PTO UNDERWAY AT SYRACUSE — Members of the Syracuse Parent-Teachers organization executive committee met last Wednesday in a planning session for the year. Thr room mothers tea is being held today with the next major ex ent being the Halloween carnival on October 23. Open house, the book fair and famih dinner will be on December 5 with the junior high Christmas program on December 17. The spelling bee and election of officers is sei for March 6 and a talent show and elementary art show will be April 22. The closing program will be the fine arts festival on Mav 10.
Community education classes to begin at Wawasee Oct. 8
The adult community education classes for the fall term are scheduled to begin on October 8 at Wawasee high school The night classes, which are non credit, are being offered to provide persons within the area an opportunity to get together with other people who have like interests A variety of classes is being offered this year to meet the interest of more people Each class will have to have a minimum of 10 persons enrolled in order for the class to be held Area residents who are in-

By DAN C ASKEY The fall programs are now underway at the Lakeland Youth Center and enjoying a great deal of success. In Pee Wee football, 168 boys in the three communities turned out instead of the expected 50-60. At Milford. 37 boys are divided into three teams, the Dolphins. 49'ers and Browns; at North Webster. 54 boys make up the four team league. Teams are the Redskins. Raiders. Vikings and Steelers. The four teams at Syracuse are Rams. Packers. Cowboys and Irish. The 77 hoi’s are divided for the squads. Practice at Webster is Monday and Wednesday. Syracuse on Tuesday and Thursday, and at Milford on Fridays. All practices run from 3:30-5 p.m. A full roster and game schedules to be played in the respective communities will be appearing soon Advanced gymnastics meeting on Tuesday nights has 16 girls taking part. Girls will receive instruction in the balance beam for eight weeks, then move onto the uneven bar. Instructors Carolyn Baker and Paula Searfoss [dan to teach each girl a routine. Beginning tumbling has 29 girls signed for the basics with the first class tonight (Wednesday) at 5:30. The two Saturday morning programs are tap dancing and acrobatic ballet. The 14 girls to receive instruction from Miss Marcia Spurgeon in two classes. 8:30-9:15 and 9:15-10, will be set after this week. This week, all girls are to be at the center by 9 a.m. Twenty girls have chosen acrobatic ballet which is the Olympic Free X. Barb Yoder and Rhonda Byrd will be working with the young ladies in this 10week program with classes at 10:30 and 11:30. The Pee Wee football, advanced gymnastics and beginning tumbling programs are full. Youths may still sign for tap and acrobatic ballet.
