Donald C. Robbins, retired editor and publisher of the Cromwell Advance, passed away Saturday. Sept 14, at Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne Robbins. 66. had been a patient at the hospital 12 days He had been ill with cancer for several years Robbins was born December 9, 1907 in Ligonier to Forrest B and Hazel (Kingi Robbins He had lived in Cromwell all his life Owner of the Cromwell Advance for the past 40 years, he retired on August 1 from the newspaper business His father, the late Forrest Robbins, a native of Cromwell, started the newspaper on August 1 of 1912. and young Robbins was called home from the naval air station at San Diego, Calif., in March of 1934 when his father passed away. His mother had passed away just six weeks earlier Robbins was given a hardship discharge from the navy to assume responsibilities of the

Mr. Fuller was born on November 20, 1894 to Victor and Ella (Leatherman) Fuller in Oklahoma He was united in marriage to Alyce Talbot on May 17. 1924 and she survives. Mr. Fuller had been a resident of Milford since 1933. was a member of the Milford United Methodist church, a 50-year member of the Kosciusko County Lodge 418 F & A M and the Ancil Geiger Post 226 of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star chapter 160 and a veteran of WW I Barracks. Warsaw Mr Fuller retired from operating the Fuller General store in 1968 Surviving with the widow’ is one daughter. Mrs Robert (Marilyn) Brown. Milford; five grandchildren. one brother. Floyd Fuller, Milford. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister Interment was in the Milford cemetery.

Fuller, 79. a long-time Milford businessman and X; £ community leader last Sunday. ;$ He was a quiet man. a busy man. serving his community when and where he could. He was the son of the late Victor and v Ella Fuller. His father, too, was a respected man who served as ;X ;< trustee of Van Buren township for a number of years. ;X S Fuller came to Milford in 1933. He and his brother Floyd (“Sandy”) purchased a grocery » and meat market in a small building on the east side of Main street Outgrowing the building, they moved across the street X; into the old gray frame building which is still referred to by the X; older citizens of the town as Fuller’s. They operated a general X; X store there for a number of years After Sandy retired. Royce x X continued to operate a dry goods store until he. too. retired in ® 1968 At that time he sold the building which is now the home of Amazing Motors ;< Royce Fuller was one of the older generation who St remembered the west before it was tamed. He was born in g X Hennessey. Se*pt 11. at the Elkhart hospital at 2:15 a m Mr. Stickel had been a patient in the hospital since August 18 and had been in
failing health for one year. Mr. Stickel was bom on March 25. 1888 to David and Mary Stickel in Baugo township. He was united in marriage to Elsie Wogoman on September 18. 1915 and she peceded him in death on March 13,1969. Mr. Stickel was a farmer and thresher, was a bus driver for 32 years and was a* member of the First Church of the Nazarene at Elkhart. Surviving with the brother of Milford is one daughter. Mrs. George (Florence) Ernest of Goshen; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one other brother. Vern Stickel of Elkhart; two sisters. Mrs. Olive Bechtel, Mishawaka, and Mrs. Ruth Ramer. Elkhart. Services were conducted at 2 p.m Saturday with Rev. Ray Tucker assisted by Rev. Ernest Minegar officiating. Interment was in the Olive cemetery. I. J. Byland Services were held Tuesday afternoon for I. J. (Bill) Byland. 79. Oakwood Park. Syracuse. Death came Sunday morning at Elkhart hospital where he had been a patient since September 1 and was due to a heart condition. Born at Elwood on February 24.1895, he was a son of John and Lollie (Zintz) Byland. A resident of the Syracuse community since 1920, he was a member of Calvary United Methodist church at Syracuse, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Elkhart VFW. His marriage to the former Irma Nicolai took place at Benton Harbor. Mich., on July 27, 1925, and she survives. He was retired from the Bendix corporation at South Bend. In addition to the widow, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Phyllis) Blankenhorn of Mishawaka. Mrs. Robert (Frances) James, Sturgis, Mich., and Mrs. James (Norma) Crafton, Syracuse; 10 grandchildren; one step-grandchild;

Mrs. Gordon Simmons Services were held Monday afternoon for Mrs. Oral Simmons, 68, Goshen and sister of Mrs. Donald Howk, Mrs. Russell Miller and Howard Rodebaugh, all of Syracuse. Death came Friday at Goshen hospital where she was a patient several days after suffering an apparent heart attack. Mrs. Simmons was born in Kosciusko county on April 29. 1906 a daughter of Alonzo and Rose (Catey) Rodebaugh. She resided in Elkhart county for 50 years Her marriage to Gordon Simmons took place April 17, 1926. and he survives. A member of the First Brethren church at Goshen, she was a member of the missionary group at the church and had worked at Hook's Drugs. Western Rubber and General Time Corp., all at Goshen. She is also survived by three sons, two daughters. 12 grandchildren. two greatgrandchildren. and one other sister. Mrs. Ted Clelland of South Carolina. Burial was in McClintic cemetery near Syracuse. Ronald Taylor Services were held Monday. Sept. 16, for Ronald R. Taylor, 31, r 1 Leesburg, who passed away Friday at Parkview hospital in Fort Wayne at 11:30 p.m. Death came from complications following an illness of one year. Mr. Taylor was born on November 9. 1942 to Raymond and Velma (Baney) Taylor at Warsaw and he was united in marriage to Linda Popenfoose on November 19. 1960. Mr. Taylor was a lifetime resident of the North Webster area, was an assistant foreman at Endicott Church Furniture, Warsaw, and was a member of the Calvary Baptist church at Oswego. Surviving with the widow are five children. Debra, Chris, Ronald, Jr., Tamara and Jeffrey, ail at home; his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Taylor of Pierceton; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Baney, Etna Green; one brother, Michael Taylor, Claypool; and several nieces and nephews. Rev. Donald Fowler officiated for the services. Interment was in Leesburg cemetery. John E. Niccum Funeral services were held Saturday for John E. Niccum. 93, of Goshen and father of Mrs. Eloise Frevert of Goshen and formerly of Syracuse. Death came early Thursday at Fountainview Place nursing home at Elkhart where he had resided since July 2, 1971. In failing health for some time, he had been seriously ill for four days. Mr. Niccum was born on the Miami Indian reservation in Wabash county on January 25, 1881, a son of John and Miriam (Mollot > Niccum. He had resided at Goshen since 1905, moving from Wabash. His wife, the former Edith Clark to whom he was married October 11, 1903, preceded him in death October 2, 1962 He was an employee of the Big Four Railroad for 30 years, and retired in 1961 from the Goshen Rubber Co., where he was employed for 28 years. He was a member of the Plymouth United Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, John R. of Union, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 26 great-grand-children; and five great-great-grandchildren. Samuel Allen Davis Services were held Friday for Samuel Allen Davis, 76, of Akron and father of Mrs. Marshall (Wilma) Boyer of Syracuse. Death came on Tuesday at Woodlawn hospital in Rochester where he had been a patient for one day but in failing health for the past five years. He was a retired employee of General Tire at Wabash where he had resided prior to moving to Akron 22 years ago. Mr. Davis was born at Wabash on February 1, 1898, a son of William and Elizabeth (Leer) Davis. He was a member of the

Redding Herbert H. Redding, 88. r 1 North Webster, passed away at 4 a m. Tuesday in Whitley County hospital at Columbia City. A North Webster resident since 1952 where he moved from Tipton.- he was born October 24. 1885 in Wells county. His marriage to the former Jessie McAfee took place July 6, 1909, and she survives. Mr. Redding was associated in the wholesale candy business when residing at Tipton. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Tipton and North Webster United Methodist church. In addition to the wife, he is survived by a niece, Mary Jane Lesh. North Webster; and a nephew. Francis Lesh of Bl.iffton. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 today (Wednesday) at the Harris-Troxel funeral home. North Webster. Rev. Sawyer Robert M. (Willkie) Sawyer, 51, 718 E. Baltimore, Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at 5:30 a m. in Murphy Medical center at Warsaw where he had been a patient since August 18. Death was due to complications following a stroke. He was born near Nappanee on January 20, 1923, a son of Lester O. and Clara Eva (Burson) Sawyer and lived in the Syra euse community most of his life He attended the Grace Bible church at Syracuse and worked as a handyman. He is survived by six sisters. Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Wolfinger of Elkhart. Mrs. Kerry (Carole) Speicher, Eikhairt. ROSANNA KEFFER IS HOME FROM HOSPITAL Mrs. David (Rosanna) Keffer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Custer of r 1 Milford, has returned to her home after a three week stay in the Methodist hospital at Indianapolis. During that time she underwent surgery twice. The Keffers’ address is 6233 E. 43d St., Indianapolis. First aid responds to Tuesday call The Syracuse first aid unit responded to a call at 8 p.m. Tuesday for Jim LaGarde on East Boston street who was in severe pain, and was taken to the hospital by the family. Theft attempt of bicycle Kirby Grubbs of r 4 Syracuse carried his bicycle to the police station at 10:24 p.m. Monday to report an attempt made to steal the bike from near the theatre, while the bicycle was locked.
