Fred and Mildred Kirkpatrick have requested variance of real estate in Ketring and Blanchard addition to Ideal beach to permit construction and use of an enclosed porch closer to the side lot line than allowed under the zoning ordinance. A petition by Robert L. Kelly asks variance and special use to permit installation of a mobile home dwelling at Blueberry Island Trailer addition. All persons interested in said petitions should appear at the meeting for an opportunity to be heard. Fireman's light stolen Jerry Byrd of Syracuse reported to Syracuse police early Saturday morning of a blue flashing light stolen from his car while parked at the Frog Tavern.

Fire call made Saturday Syracuse volunteer firemen responded to a call at 2:06 p.m. Saturday at the Walter Lantz farm north of Syracuse. Benton township was called for the fire due to location, however. Syracuse firemen had the fire under control when Benton arrived. Mr. Lantz reported he was burning off steel posts near a building when the building caught on fire. Damage was estimated at $3,000. Driver leaves scene following accident A North Webster man. Simon W. Lilly. 31, r 1, was cited for failure of duty after leaving the scene of an auto accident in which he was involved. Lilly backed from the drive at Black's Trailer court early Sunday morning and struck the fender of a late model vehicle owned by Timothy Sims. 21. of the trailer court which was parked, then left the scene Damage by state officers was set at S2O to the Lilly vehicle and $125 to the Sims vehicle.

Evangelistical crusade being held this week An evangelistical crusade is being held at the Syracuse Pentecostal church, a block south of the library, this week from September 19 through 22. Pastor Fleetwood is the speaker and service time is 7:30 each evening. Special music is by Sharon White of Tullahoma. Tenn. Attending staff college at Norfolk Navy lieutenant commander Charles I. Heare, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. C. I. Heare of r 1 Leesburg, has been selected to attend the armed forces staff college at Norfolk, Va. During the 21-week course, he will receive instruction in joint and combined staff techniques and procedures. defense management, data processing, communicative arts and the organization and operational capabilities of each branch of service. A 1962 graduate of Purdue iniversity, Lafayette, with a bachelor of science degree, he joined the navy in February 1962.

Car-cycle collide Wednesday An accident on the Fox Farm road at the intersection of Westside drive involved a car driven by Linda M. Jones, 19, r 1 Leesburg, and a motorcycle operated by Steven R. Jchnson. 23. r 2 Warsaw. The s .'cident occurred at 7:10 a.m Wednesday. Sept. 11. County police patrolman Marlin Rose reported that both vehicles were east bound on the Fox Farm road when the Jones woman slowed for traffic ahead of her and her auto was struck from behind by the cycle operated by Johnson. No injuries were reported with damage set at SSOO to the c uto and S2OO to the cycle. ; Stones from truck damage following car Damage was estimated at $175 by Syracuse police in a freak mishap around 6 p.m. last Tuesday on Indiana 13 a short distance south of Syracuse. The tailgate of a 1963 International truck driven by Randall Graber, 20, r I North Webster, came open and stones on the vehicle fell, hitting the car which was following. Driver of the car, a 19F2 Ford, was Charles Clark. 55, r 3 Ligonier. There was no damage to the truck.

Dear Editor: Just had to write and let all know in the Milford. Syracuse, Wawasee and North Webster area what wonderful young people you have — also the “lakers” who spend three or four or more months in your area. Bill and 1 thought deeply of never returning to North Webster after our son’s accident July 14, 1973 (Mark Wiggs was killed in a ski kite accident on Lake Webster), then after a few trips back to take care of legal matters, we realized why Mark loved the people, lake and the changing seasons Someone always seemed to know ahead of time of our returning and we would find a bouquet of flowers or a small note offering to help in any way. Plan commission meets Thursday

At a Thursday night meeting of the Syracuse town plan commission, approval was given for Northern Indiana Public Service company for conditional use of property south of South Shore Golf club for construction of an electric distribution substation.
