tajziNifS AROUND. K k * y A well known Syracuse Democrat likes the down home style of President Gerald Ford. When he first became president and still lived in his Maryland home (swimming pool and all) he was seen on television walking out of his front door in pajamas and house coat to pick up the morning Washington Post. A neighbor lady came out her front door, congratulated the new president. And thereupon our new president, obviously ill at ease with his new eminence, stooped over and kissed the neighbor lady on the check Our Syracuse Democrat took it all in and said approvingly. "1 liked that. That's 'country*.*' Bob Jones to Jerry Herbison: “Why don’t you run for the Syracuse town board If you did and got elected. I’d come to all the meetings ” A nice note comes to our desk from Sharyn O'Hare who put together the swim-a-thon package, and she thanked us for the attending publicity. She adds, “Our day was successful. If we have helped just one child to breathe a little easier, then all of our effort was not in vain.” If you're tired of jive music on the nickelodeon and want to eat your dinner with the pleasant din of the golden oldies in the background, you'll want to visit the Frog Annex. We don't know whose idea it is — perhaps Lou Ann's — but anyway it's a pleasing -respite from what we re used to hearing Il seems to make the dinner the more succulent Look for the opening of the new family style Windjammer Restaurant on road 13 south of Syracuse to open sometime late in September, according to Elkhart owner Wayne Bowers. The place will seat 115. he said. When asked to cash a personal check at the SBS teller's window. Dale Plummer, always one quick with the quip. said. “Step right up and get it before it goes out of style " He didn't know how right he was. Evelyn Fawley is seeking information on the life and habits of the lowly woolly worm, and trying to relate it to forthcoming fall weather Our best bet was to have her ask someone in the WHS biological department. It sounded to us like an old wives' tale, and certainly there are plenty of our readers who could help Evelyn. If you know, don’t call us — call her Remember it's Evelyn Fawley, phone 457-3188 Did you know there are only 22 shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year* The long Labor Day week end is over and many families and fnends enjoyed outings and fine food together Sunday was truly a day of fine, and different eating, what with the annual Legion pig roast held at Smith-Walbridge camp, a chicken barbecue at the local VFW post, and friends totaling 51 at the Bonar Lake home of Jack and Ella Carr for a pig roast. Though plans were short for the annual police and firemen’s fair, many attended and supported the event which concluded Saturday evening There was more good eatin’ there when the local legion auxiliary put on their usual chicken fry.
