14 YEARS AGO. SEPT. 8. 1960 Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wuthrich and son Stanley enjoyed a week end and Labor Day vacation when they left early Friday morning for Shawno Lake near Fond du Lac, Wis. BIRTHS: Mr. and Mrs. John Morehouse are the parents of a daughter. Kay Eileen, born September 1, at the Goshen hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Deeter are the parents of a son bom September 1, at the Goshen hospital. The baby’s name is Nick Arthur. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nyce and Vicki Sue were Saturday evening guests of the Ray Buhrt family at Wawasee Lake. Donald L. Rink, Milford, began his six-month active duty for training September 4 at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. The Women’s Missionary Society met on the evening of September 1 at the home of Mrs. Walter Kasper on West Emeline street. S, 1934 While vacationing in Canada, last week, Ted Baumgartner landed an eight pound wall-eyed pike and used the skill of an old time fisherman to land it. Roy Treesh caught a six pound pike and also used plenty of skill, jerking it right into the boat, breaking the line, and stepping on the fish for safe-keeping. Week end first aid, fire runs are made Syracuse first aid men responded to a call at the fire station at 5:14 Saturday evening for Frank Nyikos of rural Syracuse who had sustained first degree burns about the neck, face and hands when gas from the carburetor ignited and burned him. He was given first aid and a local physician called. The Syracuse volunteer fire department responded to a call at 11:43 p.m. Saturday at the John Anglemeyer residence, 330 Harrison court, Syracuse, for a brush fire set by unknown persons. The first aid unit responded to a call at 6:08 Monday evening at the Wilford Hodler residence when Mrs. Hodler suffered a breathing problem. She was given oxygen and transported to Goshen hospital.
