14 YEARS AGO. SEPT. 1.1960 Terry Hollar, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hollar, arrived home Monday for a 14-day furlough with his parents and friends. He has finished boot training in the U. S. Navy at Great Lakes naval training center near Chicago. Miss Emily Ruth Beer and Warren Fisher. Jr., were married in the Milford First Brethren church, Friday. Aug. 36. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beer and the Bridegroom is the son of Mr and Mrs. Warren Fisher, all of Milford Janette Zimmerman was four years old August 25. Her mother gave a party for her. Some friends were Nancy Beer. Sandra Beer. Lee Beer. Bryan Beer. Douglas Hoerr, Brent Kaiser. Marla Hoover. Kathy Price. Lori Steffen and Jody Ehret. Several reports of break-ins in Milford were made over the week end. There was evidence of a break-in at Chore-Time Equipment Co. After investigation

Mr and Mrs. Harold Y’oung and twin children, John and Linda, and Mr and Mrs. Byford Cox, of Mishawaka, spent Saturday and Sunday at Traverse City, Mich. The 12th annual Krull reunion was held Sunday at the home of Mrs Iva Krull and Mr and Mrs Ralph Krull of Milford 37 were present. Miss Peggy Williams of Nappanee and Donald D. Scott, son of Mr and Mrs Cleon Scott, of Milford, were married Sunday in the Locke Brethren church at Nappanee. Peggy is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Lester Williams. evening. 30 YEARS AGO. AUG. 31.1944 Andrew Orn has a sunflower that measures 13 feet and two inches high, with a blossom inches across. He plans to put it on display at the Warsaw fair. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Knepper are the parents of a daughter, Sandra Jean, bom at the McDonald hospital at Warsaw August 23. The monster spotted in Syracuse Lake is now believed to be a very large fish, called a Sturgeon. This one weighs anywhere from 175 to 200 pounds, stated Eston Clayton, who spotted him in shallow water. He was close enough to see that the fish had an ugly sore on its head. Usually they stay in the deepest part of the lake. Miss Kathryn Graff, Doris Myers and Lois Beer entered Goshen college Monday. The young ladies are members of the 1944 graduating class of Milford. Hoerr and family and David Hoerr of Peoria, 111., returned home Wednesday after a four-day visit at the Mathew Weisser home. They also visited Mrs. Benjamin Knochel at the Elkhart hospital. Among those from Milford and vicinity who will enter North Manchester college this fall are Mrs. Charlene Fuller, June Coy, Floyd Hollar and Mary Jane Helminger. All will take a normal course. ' . Mrs. John DeFries, daughter Harriet and son Junior moved from their farm southeast of here into their property on Main street, where they formerly resided, Monday. The other son, Harold, is remaining on the farm. Steven Fox to enter Tri-State Steven K. Fox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey C. Fox, r 1 Milford, spent three days of orientation on the campus of Tri-State college. He will be a freshman enrolled in mechanical engineering at the Angola college in September. While cm campus, the students were given tests in mathematics and English. They also met with their faculty advisors to set up their fall course schedules. During free time, the students played golf on the campus course and used the gymnasium facilities which include an Olympic swimming pool. Snyder boys in winning drum and bugle corps
David and James Snyder are brothers. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Snyder of 118 W. Portland St., Syracuse. And, until last Saturday both were members of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps of Park Ridge, QI. The corps won first place last Wednesday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Million Dollar pageant of drums held at Soldiers Field in Chicago. It was the 11th national championship for the Cavaliers. A freshman at Wawasee high school this fall, he is now in his second year with the Cavaliers. “So you fell in love with him at second right?” “That’s right.
