Mrs. Rose M. Dawson Services for Mrs Rose M. Dawson, 93, Saint Petersburg. Fla., a former Leesburg resident, were conducted at the Leesburg cemetery on Friday at 3 p.m Mrs. Dawson was born on August 25. 1880 to H. T and Ida May (Anglin) Bittikoffer at Clunette. She was married to Ralph H. Dawson on April 28, 1945 and he preceded her in death on June 9. 1967. Mrs. Dawson was a resident of the Leesburg and Benton Harbor, Mich., area before moving to Washington. D. C. where she was chief of personnel statistics for the Veterans Administration for 22 years She was also a member of the Christ United church at Saint Petersburg. Fla Survivors include two stepdaughters. Mrs W. A Pitcairn. Como. Quebec. Mrs E H Jenkins. Calgary, Alberta.

Canada; one stepson, Howard J. Montreal, Quebec. Canada; nine step grandchildren; and several cousins in this area. Emerson L. Coy Services will be held Thursday for Emerson L. Coy. 65, r 4 Syracuse Death came at 10 a m. Monday in Goshen hospital and was due to complications from a heart condition. A lifetime resident of the Milford-Syracuse communities, he was born in Kosciusko county on April 4, 1909. a son of Tillman R and Pearl M. (Sharp) Coy. His marriage to the former Connie Stiffler took place at Wawasee Lakeside Chapel. November 28. 1970. He was a veteran of World War II and owned and operated a bait and boat rental service on the channel between the lakes at Syracuse for a number of years. In addition to the widow, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Charles (Almeda) Widner of South Bend, and a number of nieces and nephews A brother. Gerald, preceded him in death. Friends may call at the Harris funeral home, Syracuse, from 2-4 and 7-9 today (Wednesday). Services will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 1:30 with Rev. Mark Frink of Cromwell officiating. Interment will be in New Salem cemetery where full military services will be held. Carl G. Shepard Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Carl G. Shepard. 61. r 1 Syracuse Death was due to complications and came Friday at his home. He had been ill for several days. Mr Shepard was bom in Indiana on February 2, 1913 and lived most of his life in the Syracuse community. On September 16. 1972 he was united in marriage to the former Lena Kime, and she survives Mr Shepard owned and operated his own tree service In addition to the widow, he is survived by one son. Glen. Fort Wayne, a daughter, Mrs. Diana Sessions, Grand Rapids, Mich.; six grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren. and two sisters, Mrs H E (Ruth) Seilers of Syracuse and Mrs Hoilie Strange of New Paris Irene S. Scott Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Wednesday) in Angola at 2 p.m. for Mrs A. C. (Irene S.) Scott. 70. r 5 Angola. Mrs Scott is a former area resident and taught elementary classes at Milford for a number of years She was bom in Steuben county
on March 31, 1904. Death came Monday at her home. Surviving with the husband are four sons. Cleon J. of South Bend. Forrest E. of Avilla, Donald D. of Lake Havasu City. Ariz., and Frank A. of Warsaw; three sisters and a half brother, ail of the Angola area; and 12 grandchildren. Rev. Richard Servis will officiate at the service and burial will be in the Mount Zion cemetery. George W. Brown Services were held last week for George W. Brown. 89. of Fredville. Ky., and father of Myrtle Rose Mullins of Syracuse. Death was due to heart failure and came in Paintsville hospital in Kentucky Bom in Kentucky on February 22, 1885 to Dave and Victoria (Allen) Brown, he was a lifetime resident of Fredville. His wife, the former Bertha Harmon, to whom he was married in 1932-. preceded him in death in 1969 He was a retired farmer and member of the United church of Galdia, Ky. He is survived by three sons including Sarnie Brown of Warsaw; and four other daughters. Victoria Hersha. Pierceton. Ethel Mae Allen. Millersburg, and Eva Salmons and Marie Mae Adams, both of Ohio; and two sisters Burial was at Galdia. Mrs. Earl Shoup Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) for Mrs. Dorothy Shoup. 80. r 1 Middlebury and sister of John Coffman of North Webster. Death came Monday at Goshen hospital where she had been a patient since July 25. She suffered with a heart condition. Mrs. Shoup was bom in Elkhart county on March 17, 1894. a daughter of Daniel and Sara Coffman On May 22. 1918 she married Earl Shoup and he survives She lived most of her life in the Middlebury community. Survivors include two sons. Dale of Tilton. Ark . and Tommy. Middlebury. a daughter. Mrs Joseph (Darline) Kzanecki of Plymouth; four grandchildren: and three sisters Burial was in Forest Grove cemetery Edgar Buckles Services were held Tuesday for Edgar Buckles, 59. of Goshen and sister of Mrs Robert Strom beck of North Webster. In failing health for the past year, he passed away Sunday at Goshen hospital where he had been a patient for a month Mr Buckles was bom June 9. 1915 in Whitley county and moved to Goshen in 1964 to work for the IXL company When retiring over a year ago due to ill heath, he was a foreman of the machine room at Coppes Kitchen. panee. His marriage to the former Lindel Stitsworth took place August 21,1937 and she survives. He was a member of the United Methodist church at Andrews, and a member of and past master of the Masonic lodge at Andrews. Other survivors include two sons and two gzandchildren. CRIS BAUMGARTNER UNDERGOES SURGERY Christine Baumgartner, six-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Baumgartner of Milford, underwent surgery this morning at 11 a m. in the Elkhart hospital. She fell from her bicycle Monday evening and broke her left arm at the elbow. She also chipped a bone near the break. She is in room 553. Births MURPHY, Scott Lee Mr. and Mrs. James Murphy of Kendallville are the parents of their first child, a son. Scott Lee, bom Thursday. Aug. 1, at 2:58 a m. The young man weighed in at six pounds. 14 ounces. His mother is the former Vicki Ward of North Webster. The levy of two cents has been set by Benjamin Bester McKrill and his advisory board in the general fund. It will raise $654. An additional .205 cents has been levied for fire fighting in the township only and will raise $5,969. The remainder of the rate is three cents in the recreation fund to raise $982. Pie total budget will raise $7,605 for the township's expenses. The current tax rate is 29 cents including the township poor relief levy of two cents. The township levy is two cents with the firefighting fund levy being 22 cents and the recreation levy being three cents. Escapes injury as car rolls Jay T. Wright, 20, r 3 Syracuse, escaped injury Saturday night as he lost control of his car, left the roadway and rolled over, on county road 300 east about onehalf mile north of county road 900 north. County officers investigated. Jackson Township rate proposed at 25 cents for 1975 Jackson township has a proposed 1975 levy of 25 cents according to a legal notice which appears elsewhere in this issue. The proposed levy will raise $6,700 for the township fund. Pie current levy, also in the township fund, is 19 cents.
