Kiwanis plan theatre party and corn roast

It was announced during the July 22 meeting of Lakeland Kiwanis club that there are still a few seats available for the August 25 theatre party. Each member has been asked to donate two pies or two cakes for the com and sausage roast. Members having any questions may contact Stu Walker, Pat McCarty. Jay Boyer or Bob Morgan J. R. Koher reported that the Chicago ball game trip was a huge success. Rev Percy Tucker was guest speaker He was introduced by Jim Greiner, chairman of the North Webster town board. Hobby club meets July 24 Mrs Hazel Hoiderman was a guest at the July 24 meeting of Tippecanoe Township Hobby club The ladies met at the home of Mrs Mildred Brady, r 1 Warsaw. Mrs Dorthea Kurth distributed tickets for the August 15 theatre party A sack lunch was served at noon .Arts, crafts and needle work was displayed and discussed Auxiliary purchases generator North Webster Fireman’s Auxiliary purchased a portable generator to be used by the North Webster fire department The generator is for emergency use and can be transported on water or used in any area where access to public utilities is limited Pythian Sisters meet July 22 Mrs Eloise Kreis, most excellent chief, was in charge of the July 22 general business meeting of North Webster Pythian Sisters It was announced that Ethel Engle and Imogene Menzie will be in charge of the September 4 card party Lillian Thomas. funds. The grand jury also asked for Oase s impeachment. He has been ordered to appear in Kosciusko superior court on Friday. Aug. 9, at 9:30 a.m. for a hearing on the impeachment charge. Charges are that between May 1, 1972 and April 30. 1974 he unlawfully and feloniously failed to deposit public funds belonging to the state of Indiana in the amount of $4,188.72. He is also charged with making payment of $1,423 to himself in excess of the allowed $4,500 salary. If convicted of the embezzlement charge he could be sentenced to one to 20 years in jail, fined up to SI,OOO and held liable for the loss of his official $6,000 bond. Annual dinner planned by Syracuse Lake Ass n.

The board of directors of the Syracuse Lake association report this week that Saturday evening. Aug. 17, is the big night for the annual lake association dinner. The event will be held at SmithWalbridge dining hall with serving starting promptly at 6:30 p.m. Association president John W. (Bill) Peters reports “the foremat of the dinner will be changed this year, with the business presentation after dinner to be held to one-half hour at the most, so we can offer our members a real evening erf entertainment. "Professional entertainment everyone will enjoy, with a fun change of for all." added Peters.

Reservations The reservation-only dinner, is open to all interested and may be made by calling association secretary Mrs. Frank (Virginia) Putt. The association's summer mailing to lake area residents will be underway shortly with further details regarding both the dinner and annual membership drive. Peters also noted that new property owners on or adjoining the lake are to be invited to the dinner free as a guest to better become acquainted and familiar with neighbors and work of the association.
