There's something for everyone at the 58th annual Kosciusko county fair
There will be something of interest for everyone at the Kosciusko county fair which will open at Warsaw next Monday. Grandpa, grandma, mom. dad and all of the youngsters will want to be on hand for the special events which are planned and to visit the displays and judging The fifth annual Kosciusko county fair gospel sing will get thirds off to a right start Sunday with singing from 6 t09:30 p.m. in the grandstand Fair officials have arranged for indoor facilities in case of rain. The annual sing 1S sponsored by the fair board and the Burket .United Methodist church Earlier on Sunday the 4-H dog show will be held. Time for the show is 2 p.m. The official opening of the fair is 7 pm on Monday. Also on Monday will be the 4-H dress revue at the high school at 7:30 p.m The 4-H tenure awards will be given at this time. At 8:30 p.m. championship wrestling will take place in the grandstands. The 4-H swine show will begin at 9am Tuesday as will the open pony show. Judging of 4-H poultry, rabbits and pigeons will take place between 1 and 3 p.m. The 4-H sheep show will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday with the auto thrill circus set for the grandstands at 8 p.m. Wednesday is a busy day at the fair. It will be kiddies day with reduced prices on all rides for the youngsters The 4-H pony show will begin at 9 a m as will the 4-H beef show Draft horses will be shown at 1 p.m The open sheep show will be held at 6 p.m. with the dairy showmanship contest being held at 7:30 p.m. Auto racing is the feature of the evening in the grandstand. Time trials will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saddle horses are to be entered on Thursday morning and the 4-H dairy show is set for 9 a.m. The annual 4-H club livestock auction will begin at 5:30 p.m Thursday is also senior citizens day. At 9 am. Friday the 4-H horses at halter will be shown. Open halter classes will be shown at 1 ■VjB JI MISS MILFORD — Peg Beer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Beer of r 1 Milford, has been chosen to represent Milford in the 1974 Kosciusko County Fair Queen contest. Peg b 17 years old and will be a senior at Wawasee high school in the fall. She is five feet, four inches tall and weighs 139 pounds. She b a green eyed blonde. Peg lists her hobbies as gymnastics, track and music. She b a member of the gymnastics and track team £ school and the National Honor society. She babo a Wawasee Mgh school cheerkadu.
p.m. The dairy show will be held all day with Guernsey. Ayrshire, Jersey and Brown Swiss cattle being shown. Friday is also the second kiddies day. During the evening the Kosciusko County Racing club will sponsor harness racing. The event will be held in the grandstands beginning at 8 p.m. with 12 heats of racing. A trophy will be awarded for each heat. The Holstein dairy show will be held all day Saturday and the horse show will take place all day. Auto racing time triate will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the coronation of the Kosciusko County Fair Queen. Exhibits Os All Sites Many people who visit the fair enjoy looking at the exhibits which are on display, walking along the midway and strolling through the merchants’ building. smaller animals and poultry’. Also, grain, hay, vegetables, root crops, potatoes, herbs and fruits. Mary Jane Shepler is president of the Warsaw arts and crafts dub which will supervise the art and handicraft works which will be on display. Cash prizes will be offered for both professional and amateur works as well as high school, junior high and grade school levels The county extension homemakers clubs will have four classes of educational exhibits on display. The classes are health and safety, special interest, citizenship and project lesson. Special homemaker club awards will go to the dub with the most entries in exhibits in the women’s building and art department, the extension homemakers club winning the most prizes exhibited and awards on percentage basis according to paid county membership.
