THE YOUNGER SET at the Christian church was full of excitement during Sunday evening services with the excitement and jpy soon spreading to the entire congregation It seems the Good News Sensations group participated in the Goshen fair parade that afternoon and not only took first prize with their float in the open class but also won the William Bigler Memorial trophy which is the grand prize award. Isn't it great to see a group of young people doing things like this together and then being awarded for their efforts! 808 AND Jaci Beer are a happy couple this week as daughter Vicki, injured last week, is improving so fast they got to bring her home. While she will need to undergo skin grafting in the future she will be home for a week which is much more than the couple had expected until Monday when they received the good news from Vicki s doctor They arrived back in Milford on Monday AS THE parade of life marches by. will you be the grand marshal. a cheering spectator — or the sad-faced clown trotting along .the sidelines, seeing and believing only the worst? In these United States, each individual has the opportunity to choose his own role. Sometimes the grimness of modern events makes it difficult to maintain an optimistic outlook, but those who never lose sight of the bnghtside of things are truly the ones who get more out of living. Mich . visiting with Mr and Mrs Jerry Chapman and children Jamie and James Mrs. Chapman is a sister of Mrs. Young Sherry joined other high school girls at camp as she attended the Christian church camp at Lake James during the week. Others camping were Robm Auer. Lydia and Laura Tucker. Peggy Rater. Cindy Rink. Kathy Harwood and Lorene Spearman from the Christian church and Shelley Dahlstrom and Lisa Bowler from the United Methodist church CARL SHEARER and wife Grace from the Hessville Christian church near Chicago were in-Our Town for a few days last week, staying in the home of their daughter and son-in-law. Phil Weisser on Saturday evening .AS THE 4-H’ers of our community are busily getting ready for the upcoming county fair, their hearts are saddened as the loss of two fellow 4-H members during the past year comes to their minds. Kevin Tom, who was a member of the Milford Senior Happy Bachelors club and Jay Haab. whose membership was with the Milford Successful 4-H’ers club, were dedicated young men in their 4-H work and represented their dubs and community with pride. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Beer, observe their golden wedding anniversary ASK BOAT REMOVAL AT RAILROAD PARK Syracuse park board president Dale Sparklin has asked persons having boats docked at the Railroad Park in Syracuse, to remove the boats for a period of time, so work can be done on the bank area. Sparklin said work needs to be done to keep the soil from washing into the water. Industrial park directors elected Directors for the Milford Area Development Council Industrial Committee. Inc., were elected Monday night in a meeting of shareholders at the Milford fire station. They are as follows Gordon Brubaker. Don Ahms, Maurice Beer. Arch Baumgartner and John Perry. - The directors will meet on Wednesday afternoon of this week to elect officers and perform such initial duties as set meeting dates and appoint committees The committee has over SIO,OOO pledged and expects to double that amount in the future as “seed money" for the development of an industrial site in the Milford area Shares in the newly-formed corporation are SSO per share Indiana pays $32,732 for Milford land Land has been purchased for the replacement of the overhead bridge located north of Milford. A legal notice which appears elsewhere in this issue shows the state of Indiana paid a total of $32,732. including damages and improvements, for land taken. The land purchased and amount paid is as follows: Herman Weisser $17,275, George T. Bowler $530. town of Milford (Ralston Purina) $1,025. Michael Reuter estate $8,502. and J. H. Routh Packing Company $5,400. Chamber meeting set for Thursday A meeting of the SyracuseWawasee Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for 42 noon this Thursday. Aug 1, at Maxwelton Golf dub. Committee reports will be heard, John Call will make his initial presentation of future development of the downtown Syracuse area, and Ted Rogers will report on the July flotilla. Vehicles collide Saturday afternoon There were no injuries m a twovehicle mishap at 2:50 Saturday afternoon at the intersection of’ 1 Indiana 13 and Pickwick road. Syracuse police were called to investigate and set damage at $225 The accident occurred as Phillip W Hepler, 17. r 4 Syracuse and driver of a 1967 AJC truck attempted a left turn onto Pickwick road from Indiana 13, and J L Slabaugh. 26, r 4 Nappanee, who had stopped at the stop sign on Pickwick road, attempted a left turn onto the state road Slabaugh said he did not see the truck in time to avoid collision. Damage was S2OO to the truck and $25 to the auto, a 1974 Ford tknven by Slabaugh. S6OO worth of coins stolen James R. Hyden, r 1 Leesburg, reported to county police that his mobile home was entered between July 21-25 and approximately S6OO worth of old coins, a necklace and a ring were taken. The report was received on Saturday by county police patrolman Gerry Moser.
