Out on the lakes in a storm looking for a fisherman who had not come in. Through the brush to find a deer that had been hit on the highway and was hurt. Out on a wind-swept part frozen lake to catch a white duck that someone had fed all summer then went away and left to make out alone and starve because it did not know how and could not fly. Driving all the way around the lake to get a coon that had come down the fireplace chimney and was making a mess out of a cottage. I don’t think any one will ever

He was always on hand, not only for his department but for all departments. If he was needed, he was there. . So, I look at it this way— He is not gone, he just took a call from a more important department, with a most important manager. He will do just as good there as he did here. The notice to taxpayers of tax levies for Van Buren township shows no tax levies for 1974, payable in 1975. Trustee Maurice Beer said all proposed levies will be coming from federal revenue sharing funds during 1975. The current levy is 29 cents and includes five cents in the general fund, one cent in the poor relief fund, seven cents in the fire fighting fund and 16 cents in the library operating fund Two fire calls made on Saturday Syracuse firemen responded to two fire calls Saturday. A 12:35 p m. call took firemen to the Lawrence Thwaits farm northeast of Syracuse about six miles to assist the Cromwell department in a grass fire, however, the fire was out when Syracuse arrived. ■ The second call was at 5:26 p.m. to Marineland Gardens for a grass fire at the Lowell Brock residence. The call was reported by a neighbor who did not know dried grass and weeds were being burned and was under control. McGowan Plumbing changes hands McGowan Plumbing and Heating, a prominent contracting firm in plumbing, heating and air-conditioning in the Lake Wawasee and Syracuse area, has been sold to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dagenhardt of r 2 Syracuse. The firm will continue the operation under the founder’s name. Mr. and Mrs. McGowan will remain for an unspecified time to assist the new owner management. The scope of sales will cover the complete line of plumbing, heating and airconditioning and service will follow these sales.
