Milford youth is killed in cycle-truck crash Saturday
Jay H Haab, 18. r 2 Milford, was killed Satuiday whet; the motorcycle he was riding was hit almost head-on by an' up truck camper The accident happened at 5:40 p.m a short distance west of Milford on the Om road The truck driver, Ledean Hall. 55. also of ,Milford, was charged with public intoxication and driving under the influence of intoxicants Other charges are pending Investigating reports show Hall's vehicle was left of the centerline He was headed west Haab was eastbound on the 185 cc motorcycle. The youth and motorcycle were drug 131 feet after the impact. He was pronounced dead of multiple fractures, internal and head injuries upon arrival at the Goshen hospital. , County patrolman Gerry Moser and state trooper Larry Yeiter investigated. Funeral Tuesday Funeral services for Haab were held at 10 30 a m Tuesday at the Apostolic Christian church at Milford A 1974 graduate of Wawasee high school, he was born May 13. 1956 to Howard and Joan (Clem* Haab He was a member of the Milford United Methodist church Surviving with the parents are two brothers. Dana and William and one sister. Janet Sue. all at home, and a maternal grandfather. Ross Clem of .Anderson Rev Theo Beer and Rev Elmer Harttet officiated Burial was in the Milford cemetery’.
Bloodmobile to be in Milford next Monday
The Kosciusko county Red Cross bloodmobile will be at the Apostolic Christian church youth annex in Milford on Monday from 12 noon until 6 pm Blood chairman Steve Devenney states that 150 pints of blood are needed for this visit. Benefit Webster Boy John Hostetler, a hemophiliac, 13-vear-old son of Mr. and Mps. J. Clutter of North Webster, required 23 pints of bood in July for a total of 236 pints to date. John is one of the reasons the county chapter of the American Red Cross, a United Fund agency, urges everyone from 17 thru 65 in good health to be a donor. Arraignment is set for accused rapist
The arraignment date of August 1 has been set in Elkhart circuit court for accused rapist Michael Dean Wortham. 21. of r 2 Syracuse. The judge will be Aldo J. Simpson and attorney Wilmer L. McLaughlin was appointed by the judge to be the attorney for the accused Wortham was arrested early last Wednesday at his home and booked al the Elkhart county jail The Syracue man allegedly hid m the back seat of a Milford woman’s car and reportedly let her drive away m her car after leaving a dinnerware party at a private residence He then accosted the woman along an Elkhart county road, freed his victim and left the scene on a motorcycle hidden nearby The attack was reported to

The last fiscal year visit of the Red Cross bloodmobile in June resulted in 114 pints. Theresa Barth, 14, dies after sudden illness
Theresa Barth, 14, r 1 Milford, died Sunday at 12:45 a.m. whjle en route to the Goshen hospital. Theresa and her sister Barbara were attending the races at NewParis Saturday night when Barbara noticed Theresa slumped in her seat. She called for help and the speedway ambulancecrew attempted to revive Theresa without success. Results of an autopsy are not available at this time. Indianapolis man injured in Sunday boating accident
A 20-year-old Indianapolis man. Michael McDonald. 20. remains in serious condition in an Indianapolis hospital with severe head injuries sustained in a boat accident Sunday afternoon. The accident happened at the entrance of Johnson's Bay. Lake Wawasee. A 19-year-dd Illinois woman, just arriving at Syracuse for a week’s vacation, died Sundayevening at 9:20 of injuries sustained two-hours earlier when she was hit by a car on the Pickwick road at the Kale Island bridge as she walked west to a grocery’ store in Syracuse. Bertha Wolf of Bourbon and Ernest Barth of Tippecanoe. Services were held this morning at the Milford Christian church with Eldon Wilson, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was at Milford cemetery.
Vicki Beer is seriously injured Vicki Beer, one-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs Robert Jessop Beer of Milford, was seriously injured in Holland. Young Freihofer was not injured. however, a passenger in his boat, Dan McGeary, 23, a summer resident of Wawasee, complained of a back pain and rib pains.

The five were walking west on Pickwick road and crossing the bridge as the westbound Harrington car met an oncoming vehicle on the bridge. He reported he saw the women but was unable to stop in time to avoid the accident.

Mrs. Raymond Poynter of 207 North Huntington street, Syracuse, reported to the police department Monday evening of air being let out of her car tires while parked beside her home. She said she is never at home when the vandalism occurs Owen Cobbum of OK Sales on Indiana 13 south of Syracuse reported to officers Monday of the theft of two motors sometime over the week end. Wholesale value was set at $2,500. Also reported as missing over the week end was a green Schwinn bicycle from the White residence on Baltimore street, and a stereo turn table from Jayette Van Sickle’s home on East Chicago street. Jim Boyer of Syracuse reported Friday of finding a girls three speed bicycle which was later taken to the police department.
37 per cent of county voters cast ballots in May primary
INDIANAPOLIS — The voting turnout for the May 7 primary election was the lowest ever recorded in Indiana, the Indiana State Chamber of Commerce said today. Results of a statewide survey by the state organization indicate that barely more than onequarter of the registered voters

Margaret Hoggatt was born in Chicago on Noverhber 5.1954 and was a junior at North Illinois State university. She was a member of Saint Catherine of Alexandria church at Oak Lawn. She is survived by her parents, four brothers, two sisters, and a grandmother, all of Illinois. '

Walter Miller reported Friday of the theft of a convertible boat top taken from the frame on his boat in the water at his home on 530E and Pickwick road. The top is white with side .and rear curtains. The value was estimated at $194 * ' ’ A Baltimore street resident reported a case of indecent exposure at £2:30 a m. Sunday at the Wawasee Laundromat, after which the youth bounded east from the business place. Mrs Esther Troyer of E. Chicago street reported to officers at 10:35 Monday night of the theft of a white dryer and pink washer taken sometime after 8 p.m from her unlocked glassed in porch. Value was placed at $175-S2OO.

VANDALISM Syracuse police investigated a vandalism report at 6:30 Wednesday evening from Mrs. Mary Van Dyke of Medusa court, Syracuse, of a park bench from the Railroad park being broken and littered about the park area and channel waters. Miss Goldie Newcomer, 213 Mill street, reported the theft of S3O. taken during two different times, from her home. Her report was filed at 7 pm. on Wednesday. Paul Geoffrey of Fort Wayne reported the theft of a stereo tape deck and a shifter taken from his car which had been towed and parked at the Union 76 station in Syracuse. The report was filed at 8:10 Wednesday evening.

Harry L. Coy dies suddenly this morning Funeral services will be held at the Harris funeral home in .Syracuse at 1:30 p.m. Saturday for Harry L. Coy, 53*. co-owner of the Overhead Door Company of Syracuse. Coy died at his home at 4 a.m.. this morning (Wednesday) of an apparent heart attack. Death was unexpected. He was born in Mishawaka on April 26. 1921 to Chancey and Zella (Bowser) Coy and had resided in Syracuse most of his life. He married Nellie (Powell) Carpenter on June 5, 1971. Coy was a veteran of World War 11, having served in the army and having been a prisoner of war. He was a member of the Syracuse American Legion post, 40 et 8, VFW of Bremen, served (Continued on page 5)
