“Look. Daddy! A stopped freeway!” Eight-year-old Kristen pointed at the span of concrete that soared over the road ahead of us and then ended abruptly as if it had encountered an invisible wall. Two months later, we took a hike in the country. A small trail led us through green fields of waving grass and wildflowers. There the trail ended, gradually, as if reluctant to stop. THE MAIL-JOURNAL Wed., July 17, Vacation Bible school at W awasee Heights The annual vacation Bible school for the Wawasee Heights Baptist church will have for its theme this year “Laving God’s Way.” The pastor, R. Dean Cooper, will serve as director for the school which will be held daily from 9to 11:30 a.m. starting Monday, July 22, and going through Friday. July 26. The public program following the school will be at the 9:30 a.m. service on Sunday, July 28. Departmental work will include a Bible verse, a Bible lesson with workbook material, a continued missionary story, music and crafts each day. Department superintendents are Mrs. David Nine, Mrs. Tom Mullins. Mrs. Dennis Bjella, Mrs. Donnie Neer and Mrs. Cooper. Refreshments will be served. Children from the age of four and on up through the sixth grade are welcome to attend. If you need more information call the director. The church is located just across from the Wawasee high school near Syracuse. WRC holds July meeting Monday Members of the John C. Adams chapter 278. Women’s Relief Corps, at Syracuse, met Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lee Poyser. During the business meeting, a report was given on sjck members and it was announced the national convention would be at Indianapolis in August.
