At the evening meetings the lessons are also being conducted in a series, from the book of Galations. Star class holds summer outing The Star Sunday school class met at a Goshen restaurant for a * delicious supper and outing on Wednesday of last week. Devotions were given by Herbert Morehouse from I Thessalonians 4:9-24. this was followed by prayer Mr. Morehouse also read two poems, "When Pa Was A Boy” and “Johnnie’s Essay On Love.” Mrs. Morehouse read the poem “Washing Ain’t Wha,t It Used To Be.” “I’m Fine For The Shape I’m In” was read by Mrs. Albert Gill. Wedding anniversaries for three couples in the class were celebrated. Each received a large “flower of Tibet” orchid. Persons honored were Mr. and Mrs. Everett Darr, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Kinney and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Morehouse. The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Zona Deeter. Others present to enjoy the event were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schermerhorn. Mrs. Edna Tom, Mrs. Emma Cripe, Mr. and • Mrs.xAlbert Mathew, Mr. and ■Mrs. Frank Johnson and Mr. Gill.. COMMUNITY NEWS Among the 41 persons who gathered at the Lowell Johnson home in Elwood on Friday of last week for a family reunion were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson of Syracuse, Floyd Johnson of Seattle,’ Wash., Dr. and Mrs. Daryl Johnson and family of Athens, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Johnson and family of LaPorte and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Johnson and family of Garrett. All the Johnsons mentioned formerly lived in the first house south of the New Salem church. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Meek and daughters were hosts to a family gathering Sunday at “ their Syracuse home. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Meek and family of Elkhart. Mr. and Mrs Gareth Meek and family, Mr. and Mrs. Emory Stetler, John Stetler and daughters, and Mrs. Eva Smith, all of Syracuse, and Mr. antfMrs. Russell Stout of Mishawaka. Miss Georgina Morehouse spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Johnson and sons at Elwood. Mrs. Edna Tom and Mrs. Emma Cripe of Milford are spending a few days at North Manchester with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Morehouse were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Clara Fisher of Peru. ,Mrs. Robert Neely, 'Jr., of Easton, Pa., is spending a few days in the home of her daughter and husband. She is here to help welcome home her new granddaughter, Heather. —NS— ♦ Car’ry-in dinner at Church of God The Fellowship class of the Syracuse Church of God met at 6 pm. Tuesday for a carry-in dinner. The meeting opened with a prayer, followed by a roll call answered by a scripture verse. Reports were given and Don Nine led devotions, reading I John 4:720 followed by a discussion. A sing-along quiz was led by Given Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Dial Rogers of South Bend were guests. There will be no July meeting, but the group will meet at the Helen Richcreek home in August.
