North Webster girls play ball on Tuesday-Thursday

Wawasee golf results given Two teams posted a 35 in the Saturday scramble at Wawasee Golf club with Virgil Bums. Maxwelton ladies list winners Low gross, low net. low putts, was the play for the day last Wednesday for the Maxwelton Ladies Day association. This was also the start of the club handicap tournament. Winners in 18-hole play for the day were: Ester Brewster, first, low gross and Rose Mathews, second Low net went to Maggie Smith with Doris Sedgwick, second Dot Stiver took low putts with Delight Craig, second. Results given for summer recreation play at Milford
Results have been given by Ned Speicher for the summer recreation games played at Milford. They follow: Milford 8 - Pierceton 2 Milford's traveling team extended its perfect record to 2-0 with an 8-2 victory over Pierceton. Dave Meade was the winning pitcher and Randy Blackburn and Gary Bray were the hitting stars in the Milford victory. Twins 6 - Sox 3 The Twins won their first game of the season by beating the Sox 83. Gary Bray was the winning pitcher and Greg Weisser was the leading hitter for the Twins. Milford Pony League results are given
The Milford Pony League has competed in four games so far this summer, losing three and tying one. They lost their first encounter to Sidney 8-1 The game was tied 1-1 after five innings but walks and errors led to the Trojans downfall; Against Leesburg the Trojans battled their way to a 6-8 tie. The game will be resumed at Leesburg Andy Brown and John Beer collected two hits each. Milford's second loss came at the hands of a tough Silver Lake team 12-1. Giants 20 - Indians 19 In the girls’ softball league, the Giants held off an Indian rally and won their first game 20-19 The leading hitters for the Giants were Sherry Young and Vicki Evans. The Indians were led in tutting by Robin Auer. Braves 29 - Pirates 7 The Braves were led by Brenda Skelton and Renee Lindzy in trouncing the Pirates 20-7. Bea Carvajal led the Pirates with a home run
North Webster handed Milford its third loss 12-10 The game was tied 10-10 going into the seventh but once again errors gave the victory to North Webster. Dan Bohnstedt and Greg Wiggs collected two hits apiece for the losing Trojans The B-team has won one and lost one. They defeated Sidney 128 with Andy Brown collecting two hits and Jay Kaiser the winning pitcher. They lost to Silver Lake 0-7. Leading hitters were Phil and John Beer with two hits each Milford will play Syracuse tonight (Wednesday).

Backing vehicles hits parked car
Minor damage was reported in an accident in the 100 block of East Main street, Syracuse, Monday as Lyle McGowan, 58. r 2 Syracuse, backed his vehicle from a parking spot, cut too short, and bumped a parked vehicle next to him. Damage to the parked 1974 Oldsmobile belonging to Donald and Beverly Thwaits of r 2 Syracuse was set at SSO. There was no damage to the McGowan vehicle.

Out-Spokin' to take place August 12-20
Out-Spokin’, a biking program sponsored by the Mennonite Board of Missions, is planning an eight day bicycle hike along the coast of Oregon August 12-20. Everyone between the ages of 1421 are invited to join the group. The biking program began in June 1968, and has since expanded to offer year round bike hikes. Last year an additional fleet of bikes and a new supply trailer were added. Some of the tours taken by the group are self contained back packing adventures. The Oregon coast trip will be accompanied by the supply trailer which provides locker space, a fold-out kitchen, office space, a bike repair area and living quarters for the staff. Accompanying director Jerry Miller will be five staff persons for this year s regular hikes Miller accompanies almost all trailer accompanied hikes. Bicycle plates must be on by July 1 at Ligonier Ligonier police chief Robert B. Durham reported recently that a new supply of bicycle license plates has been received. Bicycles will have to be licensed before July 1. All bikes found on city streets without license plates will be impounded until plates are obtained. This involves only those living in the Ligonier city limits. Durham also stated in his report for the month of May that applications for a patrolman are still being accepted.
