20 seniors top Wowosee's final nine-week honor roll

Returns from duty 1 in Thailand Larry Simon is on leave following a year s tour of duty with the air force in Thailand. A 1966 graduate of Syracuse high school and son of the Maxwell Simons, he entered the United States Air Force in 1968 and is a careerist of the service. He is married to the former Marie Cramar of Syracuse and they have a three-year-old son, Jerry. Larry and family will be moving later this month to Illinois where he will be stationed. Awards listed for Mermaid Festival events

Awards have been listed for the several events of the up-coming Mermaid Festival. First place winner in the Queen of Lakes beauty pageant will receive a trophy. S2OO in cash, an engraved wrist watch and will reign for one year. First runnerup will receive a trophy and SIOO, second runner-up will receive a trophy and SSO. Each of the two remaining princesses will receive $25. All five will receive charms and princess crowns. Girls winning the swim suit competition and the congeniality award will receive trophies. First place winners in the commercial and municipal float, organizational floats and junior high bands will receive $125 in cash and a trophy. Second place winners will receive $75 and a trophy and the third place winners will receive SSO and a trophy. Those who enter cutie conveyances, walking units, novelty units, mounted units, best old car, best antique fire truck, junior division and senior division of walking color bearers and guards, junior division and senior division of mounted bearers and guards, junior division and senior division of baton corp and groups will each receive a trophy. A trophy will also be given for second place in cutie conveyances. First prizes in the mechanized or motor driven conveyances, walking or pulled conveyances, the Cutie Queen, the Cutie King will receive a bond and a trophy. In the conveyances divisions second, third and fourth place winners will receive trophies. The first and second runnersup in the Cutie King and Queen contest will also receive trophies. First place winner in the talent contest will receive S7O and a Mermaid plaque, second place is S4O and a plaque, third place in $25 and a plaque, fourth place is sls and a plaque, fifth place is $lO and a plaque and sixth thru 10th are plaques. Trophies will be given for winners of the Youth League tourney, basketball tourney, waterball contest, horseshoe pitch and pony pull. Additional Awards The North Webster Lions club also announces an additional $5,000 grant for prizes will be given by the International Palace of Sports. The additional prize money must be used for civic, charitable or educational purposes as the winning sponsors so desire. grades nine-12 first prize is a trophy and SSOO. Second prize is a trophy and S2OO, and third, fourth and fifth is a trophy and SIOO for each place. In the Queen of Lakes contest the queen's sponsor will be awarded SSOO with the first runner-up’s sponsor receiving S2OO. The second runner-up and each of the princesses sponsors will receive SIOO. In like manner the winning Knight’s sponsor in the Tournament of Knights will receive SSOO with the first runnerup receiving S2OO. The sponsor of the knight finishing third, fourth and fifth will receive SIOO. The best decorated Knight andor queen float or convertible will receive SSOO with S2OO going to second place and SIOO each to third, fourth and fifth places. Missing boat is recovered The 17 foot boat belonging to Dr. Max Long of Wawasee and Marion, reported missing Sunday from Wawasee Boat company where it was parked for repairs, was recovered this w’eek in the channel waters near Syracuse.
