Mark Reiff second in discus at state

By SANDY GERENCSER Warrior weightman, Mark Reiff, placed second in the discus last Saturday in the IHSAA State track finals Mark, who has had a very successful season, suffered his first loss of the year as he hurled the discus 164'. He had the longest throws all during the state competition Because of his second place finish. Mark was invited to the Indiana. Michigan and Ohio AllStar meet at Fort Wayne on June 8 at 2 p.m.

The team completed its spring season with a record of 7-3. Wawasee’s winning pitcher was freshman Jim Adams. Jim gave up only two singles; he struck out twelve and three. Jim helped his own cause as he went three for four at the plate, including a double The young Warriors actually wrapped the game up in the third inning , when they scored five times, Todd Haines collected two singles in his two trips to bat Wawasee stole eight bases in the contest. The JV will start its summer season tonight (Wednesday > as it travels to Northridge for a 5:30 contest. Hoss Hills Bowmen bag 300 pounds of rough fish

Hoss Hills Bowmen, Inc. held a rough fish contest recently. Ridding the area lakes of close to 300 pounds of rough fish were 14 two-man teams. Participants were from Fort Wayne, Columbia City.

Warriors down Mentone in sectional semi-finals

By SANDY GERENCSER Bob Heady's baseball playing Warriors beat the Mentone Bulldogs last Thursday, 3-0. Senior pitcher Bill Fawley tallied his fourth win against one loss as he allowed two hits and struck out six Catcher Doug Brown picked off two hits and scored two runs. Doug's double and a triple by short stop Greg Fidler were the only extra base hits in the contest. Bulldog pitcher Randy Hardesty struck out six and surrendered five hits.

Warriors stung by Redskins after 11 innings of play

By SANDY GERENCSER The Warrior baseball team w as defeated by Goshen in the sectional finals last Friday. 4-3. in a 1-o-n-g game. Goshen scored in the top of the Uth inning to break a five inning deadlock of 3-3. Mark Smith pitched 10 innings for the Warriors, but he had to retire due to the IHSAA 10 inning pitching limit. He was replaced by Vince Rhodes. Mark left the game after striking out five.

Milford girls win LCSC junior high track meet

A three-way track meet between the girls track teams of North Webster, Syracuse and Milford junior high schools was held recently with North Webster as the host school. Milford claimed top honors with a score of 71 points. Syracuse was second with 45.5 points and North Webster placed third with 31.5. Wawasee scored early in the game when Doug Brown got a single in the first inning. He made a steal on a passed ball and chalked up the Warriors' first run on an error. Wawasee bounced back with two runs in the third. Wawasee had a walk, a hit batsman and a single by Doug Brown. However, Goshen tied the game in the fourth as it capitalized on an error. Wawasee took the lead in the fifth after Brian McKay was brought home by a double from Greg Fidler. A homer by Cotherman again tied the game in the sixth. The Redskins really threatened in the eighth as they loaded the bases, but three quick outs by Wawasee ended the rally. Goshen wound the game up in the top of the 11th. Vince Rhodes gave up a walk. With two outs against the Redskins. Jim Lindhorn notched a double and Goshen scored the winning run.
