Sorensen-Bultemeier vows exchanged Saturday, May 25
Miss Betty Mane Sorensen, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Elmer A. Sorensen of r 1 Milford became the tride of Bruce A Bultemeier. son of Mrs. Norma J. Bultemeier and Al Bultemeier. both of Fort Wayne on Saturday, May 25. at the Bethel Church of the Brethren in Milford. The candlelight service was performed at 6:30 p.m. in the presence of 180 guests. Vows were read by ths pastor of the church. Rev, J. Duane Beals. She was given in marriage by her father The altar was decorated with palms and seven tier candelabra Windows in the sanctuary featured five tier candelabra with greenery. The bride was attired in a floor length A-line gown of polyester knit accented at the empire bodice and at the hemline with crocheted white lace. Her chapel length mantilla style veil was trimmed all around in a similar lace The bride’s flowers were a colonial bouquet of yellow and white daisies with greenery Miss Brenda Hurd of Milford served as maid of honor for her friend She was attired in a floor length wrap around style sleeveless gown in pale yellow print which featured clusters of summer flowers in peach, green and white. The dress featured a large collar which formed a cape let from the neckline and an empire waistline Her flowers were a single large yellow mum with daisies, baby's breath and greenery Bridesmaids were Mrs Dave McGuigan, cousin of the

The bridegroom's mother chose a floor length gown of turquoise chiffon Both wore corsages of white daisies. Nuptial music was classical and performed by Ren Frank of Fort Wayne at the organ. Miss Peg Badenhop. also of Fort Wayne, attended the guest book and Mr and Mrs. Richard D. Smith of Milford served as master and mistress of ceremony for the wedding Reception A reception was held for the couple immediately following the ceremony at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship hall in Milford. The bridal couple and their mothers greeted guests as they entered the hall. A buffet of fingerfood was served to the guests while the gifts were opened for the couple. This was followed by wedding cake. The four-tiered cake was all white and featured live daisies and greenery at the edge of each tier with an arrangement of similar flowers on top. Guests were served cake from a round table, with a yellow floor length table cloth, by Mrs. Dennis Wuthrich of Milford, cousin of the bride, and Miss Ann Bultemeier, cousin of the bridegroom, of Fort Wayne. the bridegroom Five-year-old Melissa Snider of New Paris, cousin of the bride, distributed rice to the guests. Her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Snider, served as host and hostess for the reception. The bride is a graduate of Wawasee high school and has an associate degree from Ball State university. She is presently employed at Lincoln National Life Insurance company in Fort Wayne. The bridegroom is a graduate of Concordia Lutheran high school in Fort Wayne and is presently attending Purdue university. Fort Wayne campus After a short wedding trip the couple is now at home at Colony Square apartments in Fort Wayne. June wedding is planned in Japan The engagement of Sachiko Kuwahara to Joe O. Shewmon was announced on May 18 at a garden party at Mr Shewmon’s home in Kurakuen. Nishinomiya. Japan More than 70 friends of the couple were present for the celebration. Miss Kuwahara is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maresuke Kuwahara of Kobe, Japan. Mr. Kuwahara is executive vice president of Set Tsu Kanin, a shipping company. Shewmon is vice president — Far East, of Signode Overseas company and the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Shewmon of 35 North Shore drive, Syracuse Lake. The couple will be married at Ashiya Jinja on June 8 and will honeymoon in Hawaii and Syracuse, where a reception will be held by his parents. Susan Ball honored at bridal shower Miss Susan Ball was guest of honor at a bridal shower given May 23 by Mrs. Ray Rupprecht and Mrs. Don Beer, Jr. It was held at the Rupprecht home, r 1 Leesburg. The party room was decorated in colors of red and white. A large, red. net heart, for holding package ribbons, highlighted the gift table. Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served. Miss Ball and Robert C. Stouder will be married June 8 at Barbee Community church. Bridal shower honors Edith Bertram A bridal shower was given recently by Mrs. Robert Justus and Miss Debbie Bailey of Cromwell in honor of Miss Edith Bertram of Cromwell. The guests arrived to find a mode! of a bride awaiting them, made entirely oi numerous gifts for the bride. Friends and relatives attending included the bride s mother, Mrs Russell Bertram, grandmother, Mrs. Orlo Werker and aunt Mrs. Tom Shellabarger of Englewood. Ohio who came especially for the occasion. Mrs. Mohler at granddaughter's Sunday graduation Mrs. Doris Mohler of Syracuse was at Martinsville during the week end where she attended the graduation of her granddaughter, Karen Hochstetler, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Ernest Hochstetler. Graduating tenth in a class of 331 students, she received 10 special awards including a number of scholarships.
Oldest living SHS graduate attends 85th alumni banquet
Miss Vidette O'Dell of near Indianapolis. 93 years of age and the oldest living alumnus of Syracuse high school, was honored at the 85th alumni association event Saturday evening at the Syracuse school. She was presented a corsage by Christian Koher of Syracuse. Bom at Syracuse in 1880, she graduated in 1899 and attended Angola college for 12-weeks for a teaching degree. Miss O'Dell taught for 10 years in both rural and town schools in the immediate area before attaining a principal’s position at Elkhart. She remained in a capacity as principal for 23years. Retiring from teaching in 1951, she gave 50-years to the teaching profession. She and her sister, Vera, now deceased, owned property at Syracuse until several years ago. Miss O’Dell moved to a retirement home at Greenwood where she still resides.

Bertram-Van Houten vows said in Sparta church May 18
A 3 p.m wedding on May 18 at the Sparta United Church of Christ, Kimmell, united in marriage Miss Edith Ann Bertram and Judson Dean Van Houten. Rev. Homer Lynch performed the double ring ceremony in the presence of approximately 100 friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bertram. Cromwell, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Van Houten at Pittssburgh. Pa., are parents of the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Werker of Ligonier are grandparents of the bride. Escorted The bride, escorted to the altar by her father, wore a floor-length gown of white damask with embroidered eyelet, puff sleeves and picture hat. She carried a cascade of assorted spring flowers. Miss Dawn Bertram, sister of the bride attended as maid of honor. Mrs. Gail Reams, Fort Wayne, attended as bridesmaid. They were attired in green and pink flocked crepe, respectively, and picture hats. They carried pastel gladioli. The bride and attendants each made her own dress. Tina Werker and Troy Werker.

The bride is employed as a secretary at the American Red Cross and her husband is senior electronic engineer in electrical warfare at Magnavox in Fort Wayne. M-D banquet held at Calvary church The ladies of Calvary United Methodist church at Syracuse held a mother-daughter banquet this month at Oakwood Park with 140 in attendance. A theme of “Love” was carried out in decorations and program booklets. A carry-in dinner (receded the evening events. Mrs. Philip Strieby served as toastmistress for the program. The tribute to mothers was by Beth Ann Savage, followed by the tribute to daughters by Mrs. Peter Savage. Special music was provided by a girls choir under direction of Miss Karel Hollingsworth and a ladies quartet composed of Mrs. Howard Juday, Mrs. Paul Pollock, Mrs. Arlin Bobeck and Mrs. Charles Disher Mrs. Deloss Smith, president of the local United Methodist women, introduced Mrs. Millie Schermerhorn, president of the Elkhart district UMW. Her subject was “Love”. Table centerpieces were given as awards by Mrs. Roy Wilkinson to the following: Oldest mother. Mrs. Blanche Starkey; youngest mother, Mrs. Andrew Gilbert; youngest grandmother, Mrs. Robert James and Mrs. Maxine Coleman; and grandmother with the most granddaughters, Mrs. Opal Nolan and Mrs. Esther Osborn Mrs. Ross Cook gave the closing benediction. June Bible school set at Church of God An announcement is being made for the annual congregational meeting of the Syracuse Church of God on June 3 at 7:30 p.m. Officers for the year will be elected and one trustee.

Linda Howe, Paul Kennedy married May 18 at Camelot
Linda Lou Howe, r 1 Leesburg, and Paul Kennedy, r 1 Warsaw, were married May 18 at Camelot Hall in the International Palace of Sports, North Webster. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Howe, North Webster. The tridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Kennedy, Plymouth. Rev. John Weeks preformed the double ring ceremony. Greenery, candelabra and floral arrangements of daisies decorated the hall. Darlene Johnson provided organ music. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She was attired in a floor length gown of white bridal satin and chiffon. The gown was styled with full skirt, daisy appliques and long sleeves. She wore a white hat Wednesday evening dinner guests Mr. and Mrs. F. R. LeCount and Steve of Huntington were Wednesday evening dinner guests of her mother, Mrs. Noble Myers of Syracuse, and other guests. Steve is home from Indiana State university where he was on the dean’s list with a 3.7 average. He is majoring in journalism and broadcasting. On Sunday, the LeCounts’ daughter, Kathy, graduated from Huntington North high school and Mrs. Myers and grandson Kurt Myers attended a reception in her honor following the graduation services. WCS meets at Church of God The Women’s Christian Service council of the Syracuse Church of God met May 23 in fellowship hall with Mrs. Victor Yeager giving the opening prayer. Scripture was read by Mrs. Donald Nine and Mrs. Richard Coy. Mrs. Charles Richcreek gave a reading. Mrs. Gary Firestone led the group in singing of the theme song, “Let the Lord Have His Way,” with Mrs. Louis Firestone at the piano. Fifteen members responded to roll with “the funniest name you ever heard.” Guests were Mrs. Eugene Druckamiller, Mrs. Robert Clemons, Mrs. Pete Stanfield, Mrs. David Byrd, Mrs. Michael Smith, Mrs. Robert Wolfe and Muriel Roth. There were also three children. Mrs. Oliver Hibschman conducted the business meeting at which time committee reports were heard. Mrs. Louis Firestone, social service chairman, announced Rev. Richard Wilkens will be at the church in July to show pictures of a trip to Bangladesh. Following the closing prayer led by Mrs. Nine, a baby shower was given in honor of Mrs. Stanfield and Shauna Lee. Also held was a money-making project. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Paul Yeager and Mrs. Everett Edgar. Election of officers will be held at the June meeting. YOUTH BITTEN BY DOG IN SYRACUSE Mike Byland of 207 W. Main street, Syracuse, reported to police of receiving a dog bite at 1 p.m. Sunday. The dog was brown, black and white in color.

Reception Follows Following the ceremony a wedding reception was held at Camelot hall. The serving table was centered with a large tiered wedding cake decorated with pale yellow icing and white daisies. It, was topped with two white doves and wedding rings. The bride graduated from North Webster high school and the Career Academy of Radio Broadcasting, Milwaukee, Wis. She is employed as manager of H. H. Army Surplus store, North Webster. The bridegroom graduated from Plymouth high school. He is employed by Osborn Manufacturing, Warsaw.
