Driver sleeps, hits restaurant A young North Webster man, Douglas D. Bowser, Jr., 19, was treated and released from Whitley County hospital early Sunday for injuries sustained in an early morning crash at the north edge of North Webster. Bowser told authorities he apparently fell asleep at the wheel of his auto and ran into the side of the Penguin Point building on Indiana 13. County officers estimated damage to the building at $5,000 and $3,000 to the late model car. Enchanted Hills Playhouse open season in June The Enchanted Hills Playhouse at Wawasee will open its summer season in June with the Thunder Bay Players back again. They have six plays on the docket, plus three children’s shows. Plays are listed this week in the ad, plus running dates, starting June 20 with “Guys and Dolls.” Season tickets are available, as are reservations and group rates. Receives degree at Indiana State Garry L. Ringler has received a bachelor of science degree in speech and hearing therapy from Indiana State university, Terre Haute. He is enrolled in graduate ’school at Indiana State for the summer session working toward a masters in general special education. A former Syracuse resident, Garry will be moving his family to Syracuse in June. He is married to the former Karen Juday of Syracuse and they have two sons, Matthew and Benjamin.

Sunday services at New Salem Mischelle. Nick, Angela and Charity Johnstoh. children of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Johnston, sang “Singing on Sunday” and “If it Keeps Getting Better” during the worship hour at New Salem. Mischelle accompanied on the guitar. Pastor Chad Woodburn’s message was giving the “Seven Universal Trials.” Mrs. Woodburn feted at shower Mrs. Chad Woodburn was feted Friday evening in the fellowship hall with a pink and blue shower. Two games were enjoyed with prizes given to Mrs. Edna Tom and Mrs. Evelyn Johnson. The gift table and serving table were decorated appropriately for the occasion. Sheet cakes decorated with small booties, punch, nuts and mints were served to Mrs. Woodburn, Mrs. Stanley Kilmer, Mrs. Wayne Teeple. Mrs. Elmer Rapp, Mrs. Dale Mock. Mrs. Howard Kreider. COMMUNITY NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Devon Davis entertained friends and relatives Sunday afternoon following commencement for their daughter Brenda. Relatives and friends gathered in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rapp and Rick following Wawasee commencement Sunday afternoon to honor Cindy Rapp. A buffet supper was served the guests. Sunday afternoon callers in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Mock were Mr. and Mrs. Rick Montieth and children of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Bob Holloway of Mentone. Sunday evening the Mocks called on Mr. and Mrs. Millard Tom. Mr. and Mrs John Mullinix and daughters entertained Sunday for Mrs. Edna Tom and Doris, Mrs. Emma Cripe and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Tom and Julie of South Bend. -NSWednesday club has spring musicale The Wednesday Afternoon club at Syracuse held its last meeting of the club year on Wednesday at tha-Syracuse Lake home of Mrs. Fred O. Clark. There was 13 members, three associate members and two guests in attendance. Mrs. Clark presented the afternoon program entitled “Welcome to Spring.” This presentation included seven piano solos and 11 songs with piano accompaniment by Mrs. dark. Following the musicale, refreshments were served by Mrs. Vern Brinkman, Miss Katharine Rothenberger and Mrs. E. L. Fosbrink. The club adjourned until fall.
