THE MAIL-JOURNAL Wed., May 22,1974 REV. THOMAS DOUGLAS New Church of God Minister Rev. Thomas Douglas of Columbia City assumed the pastoral duties of the Syracuse Church erf God on Sunday. A native of Pennsylvania, he answered the ministerial call in 1944. In 1946. he was assigned to begin a mission at Fort Wayne and continued his education program at Findlay college, spending his week ends at the mission. Rev. The pastor has served as conference president and member of many of the commissions. In 1972-73. he was elected as Indiana conference representative on a halftime basis. He then went into full time evangelism including preaching missions at Haiti, Antiqua and Dominica in the West Indies. Evangelist Douglas, his wife, Betty, and daughter. Gay, were tour hosts to the Holy Land, also. He graduated from Findlay college with an AB degree in philosophy, furthered his education at Goshen college. The public is invited to attend. EAT FIRST Shopping on a full stomach saves money according to the Council of California Growers — hungry shoppers are the big spenders while shoppers who eat before going to the store buy fewer food items. — CNS thoughts From The IJving Bible When Moses saw that the bush was on fire and that it didn’t burn up, he went over to investigate. Then God called out to him, “Moses’ Moses’” “Who is it?” Moses asked. “Don’t come any closer,” God told him. “Take off your shoes, for you are standing on holy ground. 1 am the God of your fathers — the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” (Moses covered his face with his hands, for he was afraid to look at God.)
