This is the largest class to graduate in the six year history of the high school. The graduation exercises were held in the physical education building at 3 o’clock.

'The largest class to recave diplomas from Wawasee high school passed through the doors of the school’s physical education building late Sunday afternoon as alumni There are 218 members in the class of 1974 Last year there were 206 graduates Commencement exercises began at 3 p.m with Philip K. Fawley presiding at the organ. The welcome was given by Wawasee high school vice principal Donn D. Kesler The class was presented by principal Henry L. Smith with the acceptance being made by superintendent of schools Don H. Arnold Vice principal Kesler read the list of graduates and diplomas were presented by principal Smith Each girl graduate also received a yellow carnation, the class flower Cite Honor Students Principal Smith told those present there is no valedictorian or salutatorian of the class, but he cited 16 honor students with grade averages of 3.5 or above, based on a 4 0 scale Honor students cited are as follows: Lee Beer, Joni (Rupprecht) Beer, Sandra Beer. Rick Brannock. Ann Brice, Susan Connolly, Diane Cook, Willa Detwiler, Wilma Detwiler. Bill Fawley. Cynthia Hyndman. Kathy Kell. Sue Niles. Mark Reiff. David Hyndman, vicar of the All Saints Episcopal church at Syracuse The sextet then played ’•Sometimes", After the presentation of diplomas “The Sound of Silence” was sung by the mixed vocal ensemble. Sue Niles, a member of the graduating class, sang the Wawasee High School Hymn as written by Amy Coy of the class of 1970. The ensemble closed its part of the program with “Shalom”. Eldon Wilson, pastor of the Milford Christian church gave the benediction and the recessional “Water Music” was played by the brass sextet. “Dangerous Memory” by Lorena Ann Olmstead. Mrs. Dorothy Williams and Class 8C visited the library on Friday afternoon. We wish to announce that the 1974 Summer Reading club will be active from June 10 to July 26. The theme is Book Parade. Pre-school children will paste a circle on a large chart for each book read to them by an older person. The school age children will paste a book-face sticker on an 8 1 2 xll card for each book they complete reading. Children from pre-school through grade five may register now through June. Remember this is our fine-free week. Leesburg Homemakers enjoy night out Members of the Leesburg Homemakers club met Wednesday evening at a Pierceton restaurant for a banquet supper. A total of 30 members and husbands and special guest Miss Paula Albert were present. Tables were decorated with bouquets of flowers. Mrs. Chester Albert opened the

meeting by reading a poem, “Men Wanted.” Miss Albert showed slides of a Hawaiian trip she had taken with the Rural Youth last June. The next meeting will be on June 19 in the home of Mrs. Kenneth Miller. Several of the club members will be attending the Purdue conference June 1114. A philosopher is a man giving people advice about troubles he hasn't had.
