r 1 Gratnll. Steve Stickel, “Knight of North Wood” will be competing in the tournament and is sponsored by the North Wood lettermen s club. Steve is 18 and a senior. He stands six feet, 2 l ? inches tall and weights 170 pounds. He was voted most valuable player of Northwood's basketball team and was named to the first team in the Northern Lakes Conference.
Sponsored by the North Wood high school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and competing as the “Knight of Nappanee” is 18 year old Sam Ehret. He is six feet tall and weighs 160 pounds. He competed on the school’s football team and was voted the most valuable player on the team He was captain of the team and was named to the second team of the NLC. The North Wood high school’s lettermen's club will also be sponsoring 18-year-old Steve Huber as “Knight of Wakarusa ” Steve, six feet, two inches tall and weighs 169 pounds, has received four varsity letters and has
competed on the school's cross country, baseball and basketball teams. Competing as the “Knight of Mentone", will be Ken Fishbaugh, a graduate of Leo high school. Ken stands six feet, two inches tall and weighs 185 pounds. He received three varsity letters in basketball and was named to the all sectional team and two years to the all conference team. The International Palace of Sports' youth foundation will award SI,OOO including the SSOO Mark Spitz award to the sponsors of winning contestants in the tournament. In six events
representing the sports of baseball, basketball, football, golf, tennis and track, the contestants will compete for the annual Sir Lancelot de Lac and Sir Galahad awards which include the Schenkel Excalibur sword and the Mollenhour Holy Grail chalice. Class of 1924 to be honored NORTH MANCHESTER — The golden anniversary reunion of the class of 1924 and presentation of the 1974 outstanding alumni awards will highlight Alumni Day activities on the Manchester college campus here May 25. lite class of 1924 will have its reunion at noon in the college union. Class members will be inducted into the college’s “Fifty Year club” at the evening alumni banquet. Six MC alums will be given awards for outstanding service. College president A. Blair Helman; Dr. Veron Oxender, president of the MC alumni association; and Ralph McFadden, second vice-president of the alumni group, will make the presentations. Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the union. The alumni board of directors will meet at 1 p.m. and an alumni reception will be held from 3:305:30 p.m. The college’s madrigal singers, under the direction of JoElyn McGowan of the music faculty, will present a musical program at the evening banquet. Milford driver cited after mishap A truck driven by Gail L. Harman, 17, r 2 Milford, collided with a car driven by Anna L. Mosher, 50, Mentone, and the Mosher auto was then forced into the back of a van operated by Thurlo E. Clouse, 56, 507 North Elm St., Nappanee. All three vehicles were eastbound on US 6, at the east edge of Nappanee, when the accident occurred at 2:47 p.m. Thursday, May 16. The Clouse 1967 Ford van was stopped for traffic with the Mosher 1969 Buick stopped behind it. The Harman 1973 Ford struck the Mosher auto and Harman was cited for following too closely. Anna Mosher suffered a neck injury and a passenger in her car, Elma Heckaman, 70, Fort Wayne, suffered a neck injury and abrasions on the right elbow. Clouse also sustained a neck injury. Elkhart county sheriff’s Ptl. Duane Roberts investigated but no estimate of damage was given. Overheated furnace results in fire run Syracuse volunteer firemen responded to a call at 11:34 Thursday night at the Eli Lilly cottage at Lake Wawasee when an alarm sounded there.
