Open house set at day care center on Thursday and Friday

Solar home expected

In a few years, you rnay be living m a "solar home," substantially powered by energy* from sunlight At this writing, there are only about 15 solar homes throughout the country, all custom designed and built But many experimental projects are under way or planned to determine the most practical mass-production methods for capturing and harnessing rays from the sun and putting them to work beating and cooling the American home. “Solar home" study and research was given a big boost recently with passage of an amendment to the Omnibus Housing bill It will provide financing by the federal government of many such research or demonstration projects. LEE TRUMAN The most frequently heard excuse by pastors for nonattendance of church services inevitably begins with the cover statement that as a child ‘‘l was made to go.” Quickly following there is a sentence worked in about their parents being pillars of the church. Often the rationale concludes, “Church doesn't do anything for me anyway.” Behind this offhand remark is the widely held belief in Protestant thought that attending services of worship is supposed to be uplifting and inspiring, that a person should have the benefit of feeling better, there should be a more kindly attitude toward one's neighbor, and also a strong sense of peace with God, not unlike taking a soul tranquilizer. This could well be the major heresy to be faced in the 70s, because this concept can in no way be termed or presented as a biblical view. In Holy Scripture, attendance at services of worship in a church or synagogue at least once a week is not optional, a favor to God. or a good show with, as one little boy put it. “a too long of a commercial." that every sensitive, responsive creature owes to his creator. Worship is not, forgive me BiUy Graham, a matter of feeling. It is rather primarily an act of the mind and will rather than emotions. The heavily manipulated service of organ music and choirs with a hard-hitting emotional service that floats the people out the door or to their knees may be good evangelism, but it is hard to equate that with biblical concept of worship of God. The word worship” comes from "word” and has a root meaning of reverence paid worth, honor and respect to deity or religious reverence. Therefore, when a person reflects on the greatness of God and considers how puny and unimportant most of the trivia that makes up our lives really is, that person is engaged in worship m its purest sense. It dues not have to be m any building dedicated or set aside for worship nor does it have to be in any formal setting of a structured religious service.
