ranking second and third in the club according to class level were presented pins. They are as follows: Seniors. Debbie Searer and Mary Kussmaul; juniors, Ruth Kaufman and Cindy Popenfoose; and freshmen. Cindy Sprague and Karen Goahert. A total of 17 Girls Sports club members were presented awards. Ten members earned letters in the club this year and seven received chevrons and pins far outstanding service for the year, having previously earned letters in the dub. A member must have served at a total of 25 sporting events throughout the year in order to be eligible for a letter in the club The outstanding member of the year, Deb Harrison, served at a total of 44 sports events during this school year The purpose of the Wawasee high school Girls Sports club has been to serve the total sports program of the school. When the dub was first formed three years ago, it wa» desired that the girls of the high school represent the school by being actively involved with the sports program. In addition to being assigned various duties and responsibilities at football games, wrestling matches, swim meets, basketball games, track meets.
etc , the members also serve the Girls Athletic Association contests and at intramurals. Examples of members duties and responsibilities are as follows: Scorekeepers. timers, recordkeepers, program handouts, errand girls for coaches, announcers, press box "runners ", etc. Distinctive as a “unique" club for this area, the members are looking forward to a successful year again next year! Three Wheeler club meets Members of the newly formed Three Wheeler club of North Webster met Saturday with 26 members in attendance. It was decided the group would meet on Sunday, June 2, to finish the trails thru the woods. The alternate date in case of bad weather is Sunday. June 9. The work will begin at 2 p.m. Entertainment on Saturday was furnished by the Two Generations band composed of Dale Brown. Phil Danner, Eon Baker and Glen Smith. Wawasee defeated by Goshen 2-0 By SANDY GEKENCSER Bob Heady's Warrior baseball team lost a close game to Goshen last Friday, 2-0. A couple of Wawasee mistakes in the fifth inning gave the host Redskins a break and they capitalized on it The loss makes Wawasee’s record 2-4. Both the winning pitcher, Dave Moore, and the losing pitcher, Mark Smith, played a great game. Moore allowed one hit (which was by Smith), struck out 10 and walked three. Mark Smith gave up two hits while he struck out nine and allowed only one walk Both of Goshen's runs were scored in the fifth inning after two Warrior errors and a single by Dave Stewart. Mark Smith's hit, which was also in the fifth, was a single. Wawasee will journey to Whitko this afternoon (Wednesday) for a 4:90 game. Glenn King takes Wawasee golf play Glenn King was winner of the Wawasee golf men’s association tournament this past week. He posted a low net of 74 for the win.

Lakeland three-way meet held at Webster
A three-way track meet between Syracuse, North Webster and Milford was held May 10 with North Webster as the host sc hod. The final score found Syracuse in the top spot with 904 points; North Webster, second, with 364 points; and Milford, third, with 21 points. Results follow; Running Events 440 yard relay — Syracuse. :50.8; Milford, second 880 yard relay — Syracuse, 1:54.6; North Webster, second 100 yard dash — Cromer, Syracuse, first with a time of :11.2; Etchison, Syracuse, second; Yoder, Milford, third; Hammaker. Warriors rip Rochester 87-40
By SANDY GERENCSER The Wawasee track team beat Rochester, 87-40, May 2 in a home meet. Jerry Rhodes won the high hurdles and Rick Bauman placed third. Jeff Bohnstedt and Rick Brannock were first and second respectively in the 100 yard dash. Tim Yoder captured first in the low hurdles and Jerry Yoder was second. First in the 220 was Jeff Bohnstedt while Chad Singrey finished second. Doug Shock was second and Steve Kroh was third in the mile run Second place winners were Uvi Carvajal in the 440 and Tim Hammon in the 880. Toby Popenfoose was victorious in the two mile run. Wawasee swept the high jump and the shot put. Chad Singrey won the high jump as Jeff Rhodes and Ralph Carvajal placed second and third respectively. Mark Reiff captured first in the shot put; Mike Woilman was second and Brian Lemberg was third. Ralph Reiff placed first in the long jump. Keith Cripe won the pole vault and Nelson Preston was third. Mark Reiff and Mike Woilman were first and second in the discus. The 880 relay team of Chad Singrey, Jeff Bohnstedt, Steve Kroh and Ralph Reiff finished first. The mile relay unit was second. It was composed of Toby Popenfooose, Greg Evans, Doug Shock and Tim Hammon. The B-team was clipped 57-55. Nelson Preston picked up a first in the 100 with : 11.8 and a second in the 220. Mitch Ousley won the discus as he threw a distance of Ill’ll"; Dan Miller was second. Greg Evans won the 440 in : 56.41. Steve Kroh captured first in the 880 while Jerry Yoder was victorious in the high hurdles. Tim Yoder jumped 19'6V to win the long jump; Rick Bauman was third. Golfers second in triangular By SANDY GERENCSER Wawasee's varsity golf team placed second in a three-way match last Thursday at East Noble. The ho6t Knights won the nine hole match with a score of 162. Wawasee had 175 and North Wood had 177. Leading the Warriors was Sam Ludwig with a 42. Jon Owens and Ron Bauman each carded 44. Shooting 45’s were Rob Zurcher and Phil Randall. Low medalist Jim Bartlet paced the winning Knights with a 38 while Larry Patton had a 39. Brian Holland and Jim Davis notched 42 and 43 respectively. Hall Hossinger tallied a 46. The Panthers were headed by Greg Bigler as he shot a 39. Blake Hepler scared 44 and Ron Walters had 46. Steve Lentz and Jim Miller carded 48 and 50 respectively. The Warriors will host Whitko this afternoon (Wednesday) at 4:15 for a nine hole match. JV fourth at New Prairie By SANDY GERENCSER The junior varsity golfers placed fourth in the New Prairie Invitational tourney last Saturday. The Warriors scored 324 points in the contest. John Glenn tallied 302 to win first in the tournament. Ron Bauman led the team with a 79. Larry Allen and Paul Millar both scored 81. Bill Jones and Steve Coverstone each had an 84. The Warriors will host North Wood in their final home game on May 20. The nine hole match will start at 4. Linksters club Central Noble By SANDY GERENCSER The Warrior golf team, under the direction of Rudy Cesco, defeated Central Noble by a score of 323-336. The 18 hole match was at the South Shore course Monday night. Jon Owens led the tribe as he shot a79 Phil Randall carded an 80 while Sam Ludwig had an 81. Rob Zurcher had an 83 and Ron Bauman scared an 85. Pacing the Central Noble team was Scott Norris with an 81. Wyndall Gaff had an 83 while Scott Gray and Jeff Slain both scared 86. Randy Knach had a 90. The junior varsity won its match. Steve Coverstone and Bob Johnson led the young Warriors to their 331-365 victory as they each carded a 79. Golfers first in invitationa By SANDY GERENCSER The Wawasee golf team set a new record in the Central Noble Invitational last Saturday as it scored 321 paints. Carroll placed second with a total of 324; Lakeland had 330 for third. There were 15 schools in the tournament. Jon Owens and Rob Zurcher led the Warrior forces as they each shot a 79. Jon and Rob were ranked in the top ten individuals at the tourney. Sam Ludwig carded an 81, and Phil Randall had an 82. The boys brought back a beautiful trophy to show for their fine efforts.
Wawasee participates in tennis sectional

The meet was last Thursday at Rochester. Other team scores were Bremen 42, Plymouth 41, Concord 34, Manchester 30 and Rochester 18. Mark Reiff set a new record. He beat the old discus record of 141’4V’ as he threw the platter 157’9”. Mike Woilman was third in the event. Mark Reiff was second in the shot put while Mike Wollman was fourth.
