Dwight Miller of Goshen served as best man. Groomsmen were Gerry Charvat of Milford and Quinten Hire of Syracuse. Lori Swinehart of Millersburg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Swinehart and a niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. Ringbearer was Ricky Coy, son of Mr and Mrs. Richard L. Coy of Syracuse and nephew of the bride. The couple is now at home at 614 North Division street. New Paris. The bride is a 1968 graduate of Syracuse high school and employed with Regent A Cambridge Homes at Syracuse Her husband, a 1966 graduate of New Paris high school, is employed at Kauffman Sons. Inc., Goshen.

Round Table Ladies plan spring party The Ladies of the Round Table of Syracuse met Monday night in the home of Mrs. Clarence Schoeff with 14 in attendance. The meeting opened in usual form with Mrs. Paul Rush, president, presiding. During the evening, plans for the spring party May 20 at Oakwood were completed. Correspondence was read in which the club received thanks for a contribution to the day care center and for cookies taken to the center one day each week. Program The program, “Home Sweet Home,” told the story of the beginnings of the state of Indiana. Mrs. James Nelson presented the story, using a taped narration and music, plus many slides. She began with the early Indians before the white man and ended with the times of the Civil War. A booklet. “Indiana Spring.” was given each member present. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Home arts club entertained by Mrs. Earl Naegile The Home Arts Home Economics club of Milford held its recent meeting in the hone of Mrs. Earl Naegele at Dewart Lake. She was assisted by Mrs. Juanita Sparks. Dessert was served to 15 members including a new member Mrs. Glen Kesslar. Following the regular opening by the president. Mrs. Naegele, the song of the month “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" was played by Mrs. Don Holt. “Hope of the World” by Helen Stiener Rice was the meditation presented by Mrs. Sparks. Mrs. Ed Jonasch gave instructions on the new voting machines now in operation in the area. A lesson on “Health Foods - How Healthy are They?” was presented by Dorothy Johnson. Mrs. Holt gave a gardening report on proper garden planning. The next meeting will be held May 14 at Milford with Charleen Woolson and Mae Hoover as hostesses. The meeting closed with the collect.
Local garden club wins award at state convention
A number of members of the Syracuse-Wawasee Garden club attended the 43d annual convention of The Garden Clubs of Indiana, Inc., held last month at Richmond with the local club receiving a state award. The award was given for the “Bloomin' Holidays’* flower show sponsored by the club last August with Mrs. R. C. Tytler as chairman.

Wedding vows exchanged by Brenda Blocher, Brian Mikel
Wedding vows were exchanged recently in the Yellow-Creek Men nonite church by Miss Brenda Kay Blocher and Brian B. Mikel. Rev. Mahlon Miller officiated at the nuptial service. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Blocher, Jr., of r 1 Elkhart and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Mikel of r 2 Syracuse. Miss Cindy Fields was soloist. She was accompanied by Kay Ellen Yoder as organist. Mrs. Phil Hartman, sister of the tride, was matron of honor. Sherry and Kerry Blocher of Elkhart, also sisters of the bride, and Mrs. Douglas Kunce of Syracuse and Miss Carol Mikel of Goshen, sisters of the bridegroom, were bridesmaids. Timka Patel and Phillip Shank were flower girl and ring bearer, respectively. Tim Reiff of North Webstar was best man. Douglas Kunce of Syracuse, Phil Hartman of Wakarusa, Michael Mast of Milford and Russ Mikel, brother of the bridegroom, of Lafayette acted as groomsmen. Another state award to the club was the historian scrapbook. Mrs. W. H. Brake is historian of the club. Theme Theme of the annual convention this year was “Beautificattan.” Attending from the local club were Mrs. Harry Appenzeller, president; Mrs. R. C. The wedding reception was held in the church basement with Mrs. Janet Homan of Nappanee, Vondell Moore of Nappanee and Vicki Mayu of Elkhart serving. The couple is living on r 2 Syracuse. Senior Citizens hear Miller and J. F. Augsburger Members of the Milford Senior Citizens group met at the fire station on Sunday for a pot luck dinner and heard both Dr. T. A. Miller, president of the Milford town board and John F. Augsburger, state senator. Miller talked about the town while Augsburger talked on legislation which affected senior citizens. Both men answered questions which were voiced by the members present. To conclude the day’s activities Shannon Fletcher of Warsaw presented piano music. The next meeting will be the second anniversary meeting to be held at the fire station at 1 p.m. on June 9. It too will be a carry-in dinner meeting.

It was announced the conservation conference will be held at Portage on September 11 and 12, and the annual state convention for 1974-75 will be at Clarksville, April 8-9-10. Reports and programs for the day were on horticulture, conservation, birds, garden therapy, flower arranging, etc. En route home, the four local members stopped at Geneva and toured the Gene Stratton Porter home.
WMS banquet held on May 2 The Women’s Missionary Society of the First Brethren church of Milford held its annual mother-daughter meeting May 2 in the church parlors. A carry-in dinner was enjoyed with arrangements made by Mrs. Burris Sharp, Mrs. Roy Schultz and Mrs. Kurman Jessop. The tables were decorated with baskets of spring flowers and lighted tapers. Each guest was given a tiny May basket in rememberance of the occasion. The program consisted of a piano solo by Julie Rhodes and poems and recitations by Suzanne, Melissa and Stephanie Baumgartner; Diane and Linda Perry; Tamara Jessop; Teresa and Tracy Stump; and Mrs. James Beer. The remainder of the program was a presentation of slides and narrations of an European trip to Holland, Germany, Norway, Sweden and England by Miss Angela Jessop who was with the Sounds of Hope group. The meeting was adjourned with the WMS benediction. The June 6 meeting will be held in the home of Mrs. Glen Bixler with Mrs. Otto Wiggs as the leader. Busy Homemakers entertained by Mrs. Davidsen The Busy Homemakers club of the Milford area met May 1 at the home of Mrs. Lena Davidsen. Mrs. A. D. Wilson was co-hostess. President Mrs. Frank Charlton opened the meeting in the usual form with Mrs. Glen Pinkerton leading the pledge to the flag. Mrs. Anna Cripe led the club creed. Meditations, “Thank God fa* Mothers” was given by Mrs. A. D. Wilson. A poem, “God knows Best,” was read by Mrs. Elmer Rassi. The garden lesson by Mrs. Vernon May was on days to plant flowers, care of violets and spray for shrubs. The health and safety lesson was given by Mrs. Irene Hollar and was on care fa* arthritis. Mrs. Harold Geiger closed the business meeting by leading the club collect and Mrs. Rassi gave prayer. Mrs. Wilson gave the lesson on several kinds of crafts. Mrs. Vernon May won the door prize. The next meeting will be June 5 and will be in the home of Mrs. Harvey Hollar.

The Fullers were married May 17,1924 in Chicago, 111. They have one daughter, Mrs. Robert W. (Marilyn) Brown of Milford and five grandchildren — Dan Brown of Syracuse, Mrs. Steve (Becky) Fox of Auburn, Dave Brown of Purdue university and Doug and Andy Brown at home.
