THE MAIL-JOURNAL Wed.. May 8.1974 — ■ ■ IM CHIEF DRAFTSMAN — Jerry L. Firestone, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Firestone of r 4 Syracuse, has been named chief draftsman of James associates. Fort Wayne, architects and engineers at Fort Wayne by Philip L. Hodge. AIA. A graduate of Syracuse high school, Jerry has completed an architectural course from Chicago Technical college, and is currently continuing professional study in the architectural technology program at Purdue university regional campus. Firestone has been closely involved with many architectural projects in the Fort Wayne area for over eight years and at the present time has responsibilities including development of a 84.000.008 office complex and a new high school. He lives with his wife, Barbara, at 5011 W. Arlington Park boulevard. He is a member of the Shoaff Park Lions club and sits on the administrative board of the Crescent Avenue United Methodist church. Musical journey set for Sunday at Calvary church The trilling story of Israel from ancient to modem times, in a onehour feature motion picture entitled, “His Land” will be shown at Calvary United Methodist church south of Syracuse this Sunday evening at 7 o’clock. In the company of Cliff Barrows and Cliff Richard, England’s popular star who sings a number of new Ralph Carmichael songs, some of which were actually written on location, the viewer travels the vibrant streets and lonely solitary paths of this nation whose destiny is daily discussed in the counsels of governments all over the world.. the same paths taken by Jesus and the prophets; Galilee, the wilderness, Jerusalem, the Mount of Olives, mingle with people of modern Israel as they work, play and build a nation. Rich in color and authentic sights and sounds, the picture with a popular musical score composed and arranged by Ralph Carmichael has been called a musical journey into the soul of a nation. Annual thank service held at Church of God The annual. thank offering service was held .Sunday evening at the Syracuse /Church of God with Mrs. Oliver Hibschman of the Women’s Christian Service council, in charge. Invocation was by Mrs. Jack Elam and Mrs. Jerry Stutzman gave the scripture reading. Congregational singing was led by Mrs. Robert Wolfe with Mrs. Walter Williams at the piano. Mrs. Paul Yeager and Mrs. Richard Coy received the offering. “A Call to Leadership” was given by Donald Nine; “A Call to Witness” by Mrs. Williams; and “A Call to Love, Train and Teach” tv Mrs. Joseph Koble. Mrs. Helen Richcreek read a poem entitled “Training” by Edgar A. Guest. Mrs. Lee Adams gave the presentation and dedication of thank offerings. As the ladies brought the thank you barrels forward, Mrs. Wolfe sang the 1973-74 theme song, “Let the Lord Have His Way.” A circle was formed by the congregation and joined hands as Mrs. William Stutzman gave the WCSC benediction.
