THE GINGERBREAD BOY — Mrs. Evert** kindergarten classes at North Webster elementary school presented the operetta “The Gingerbread Boy" for their parents recently. Scenery used for the operetta was painted by the kindergarten children.

Syracuse junior high students collect clothing to help others
The students of the Syracuse < junior high school collected clothing recently to aid students 1 who needed clodung Because of i the tornado and unemployment < conditions in the area some students did not have sufficient ] clothing Social studies teachers Loren Longenbaugh and Jerry Lambert sent home requests for clothing with all the junior high students Over 200 sacks of clothing were collected. Physical education teachers Tam Jones and Arleen Corson distributed clothing to needy students Over 50 students have received clothing and many more will have the opportunity during the next few weeks The Methodist thrift shop has aided in providing clothing and also in distributing surplus clothing Collecting Glasses Syracuse students will also be

collecting used eyeglasses during the week The glasses will be used for people in underdeveloped areas. All glasses collected will be turned over to Dr Wendel Shank who has participated in this program. Paul Sliter auto struck by Goshen driver A parked vehicle owned by Paul R Sliter, Milford, was struck by an auto operated by Mildred I. Charlton, Goshen, Sunday morning at 302 North Main St.. Milford. The Charlton woman was headed north on Main street when the collision occurred. Damage was set at 1700 to the Charlton auto and SSOO to the Sliter auto and no injuries were reported.

Art Weingartner. son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Weingartner of Fort Wayne, is valedictorian A distinguished student in mathematics and science, he is the recipient of a Notre Dame Scholar award scholarship. Co-salutatorians are William Binzel and Talbot Miller. Binzel is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Philip Binzel of Washington Court House, Ohio, and intends to enter Aquinas college at Grand Rapids, Mich. Miller is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Miller of Ligonier and will be attending Marietta college at Marietta, Ohio. Runners-up for top honors are Patricia Scheele. Rick Decker and James Shapoun Miss Scheele. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Scheele of Fort Wayne, intends to enter Saint Mary’s college at South Bend. Decker has been accepted at Rensselaer Poly Tech and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Decker, West Henrietta, N Y. Shapoun, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kazem Shapoun of Tehran. Iran, has been accepted at UCLA. Graduation exercises at Prep have been set for May 17 at 7:30 p.m.

‘Best of Show’ to junior Nick Miller
Nick Miller, a Wawasee high school junior, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miller of r 3 Syracuse, won ‘best of show’ at the Wawasee high school art show held on Sunday. Nick had displays in linoleum print, watercolor, pencil, acrylic and oil. Concert at Milford junior high school Friday at 8 p.m.
The Milford junior high school spring concert will be presented Friday at 8 cm. in the school’s gymnasium "‘Grade six through eight will make up the program which is under the direction of Jim White and James DeLay and is sponsored by the Milford PTO. Featured in the program will be selections by the choruses, bands, orchestra and string orchestra. The orchestra will feature such selections as “The Square Dance,” “Finale from Swan Lake”, “Pickin’ Rock”,

STUDY ANATOMY — Milford * eighth grade biological science class student* are dissecting rata in a comparative study of human anatomy. Rachel Morris and Roger Baumgartner are shown as they begin the dissection of their rodent in an attempt to discover the internal structure of a typical mammal. The students spent four days investigating their specimens and concluded by removing the rat’s brain. This is all under the direction of Robert Long.

“American Folk Scene” and “The Syncopated Clock.” The bands will feature "Swingin’ Michael,” “Mountain Folk Song,” “Great Gate of Keive,” “May Day Carol” and other selections. The program will also feature selections by some of the music department’s solo and ensemble contestants who performed in the NISBOVA contest this past year. Following the program, there will be a short business meeting conducted by the PTO. Wawasee FFA banquet held, awards given The Wawasee chapter of Future Farmers of America held its parent-member banquet on Monday, April 22. Pins were given to the following people for filling out proficiency awards: John Fisher, wildlife management; Phil Gingerich, electricity; Lee Beer, dairy production; and Steve Beer, crop production. Trophies were given to the national soil judging team which consisted of Curt Bender, Phil Gingerich, Steve Beer, Tom Mast, Toby Popenfoose, Stewart Jackson, Jerry Meier and Doug Shock. and Rodney Clark. The members of the national livestock judging contest who received trophies are Kip Tom, Brian Tucker, Craig Tucker, Brent Kaiser and Mark Vanlaningham. Jim Shock received the Star Greenhand award. Lee Beer was awarded the Star Chapter Farmer award. Bob Buhrt received the Honorary Chapter Farmer award. Os Indiana, Inc., Announces Plan To Reclassify Syracuse Exchange Rates Proper rales for each exchange are determined according to the number of main telephone stations accessible both locally and via other toll-free service, and by the grade of toll-free service to neighboring exchanges. Ttie reclassification of the Syracuse exchange is proposed in order to avoid discriminatory rate groupings between Syracuse and other exchanges of comparable size and grade of toll-free calling service.
