Wesner-Sorensen vows exchanged on Saturday
Melissa Lee Wesner of Syracuse became the bride of Thomas B. Sorensen of Milford at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at the Saint Andrews United Methodist church near Syracuse. The double ring ceremony was performed in the presence of 100 guests by Rev. Marvin Jones, pastor of the church. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. William Wesner of Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer A. Sorensen of Milford Decorations on the altar were of white daisies and mums, other appointments included two white five tiered candelabra with white candles. Traditional wedding music was provided by Philip Fawley at the organ The bride was given in marriage by her father Bridal Gown The bridal gown was styled by the bride's mother. It was made of a nylon flocked with chains of yellow daisies. The overshirt and waist insert were of nylon organza The gown featured a wide lapel collar, a wide sash with a large bow in back. She wore a shoulder length veil of nylon tulle which featured a pearl tiara. Her flowers were a nosegay erf white daisies with white roses Serving as maid of honor was Tonya Bushong of Syracuse She was attired in a yellow polyester crepe dress with empire waist, back sash, shirred bodice and wide collar with lace overlay. The bridesmaid, who was the sister of the bride. Mrs. Gary Lake of New Haven, wore an identical dress to the maid of honor in lime green Both wore large picture hats with green ribbon trim and carried a single long stemmed yellow rose with streamers to match their gowns. The mother of the bride was attired in a mint green polyester dress with matching bonded lace coat and white accessories. The grooms mother wore a two piece beige knit ensemble with a raised design and brown accessories. Both mothers wore corsages of white carnations and yellow roses Reception A reception followed the ceremony in the fellowship hall at the church. Guests were seated at tables decorated with green and yellow crepe paper and candles. The serving table featured a four tiered wedding cake. The top had wedding bells and doves encircled in lilies of the vaßey. Other tiers were accented with yellow roses and wedding bells Serving the guests were Betty Sorensen of Fort Wayne. Dianne Deck and Jan Swartz of Syracuse and Glenda Guenin of New Haven. Gifts were opened by Susan Yoder and Diane Wpthrich both of Milford The guest book was attended by Kim Trobaugh of North Webster The bride is a student at Wawasee high school. The groom is a 1973 graduate of Wawasee and is presently employed by the Warsaw district of the Indiana state highway department. The couple is now at home on r 2 Milford. « - * jjß ELECTED — Mrs. Clem (Suzanne) Lisor of Syracuse was elected associate graad conductress nt the 199th Century of Stars session of the Indiana graad chapter last Tuesday. The grand chapter session was held at Indianapolis. Mrs. Lisor was initiated into the Syracase chapter ia May of 1999 and served her chapter as worthy matron In 1917-98 with James Michael as worthy patron. She and her husband served as worthy matron and patron of the chapter in 1972-73. The newly elected associate graad conductress was a page at the 94th session of grand chapter in 1998 and served district 29 as deputy iu 1999-79. She was president of the district 29 organization in 1972-73 and served as Grand Esther la 1973-74. Kimero Shipley, Alvin Walker married April 27 in Webster
Kimera Jo Shipley and Alvin D. Walker, Jr., were married April 27 at the North Webster United Methodist church Rev. John Weeks officiated during the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shipley, r 1 Warsaw. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin D. Walker, Sr., Hoopeston, 111. The bride was given in marriage by her father before an altar flanked with two large baskets of blue and white daisies and baby’s breath. She was attired in an ivory colored flow-length gown styled with rounded neckline, long sleeves and lace bodice. The empire waistline was adorned with a lace medallion and tiny pearl buttons Her floor length veil was secured by a comb covered with net ruffles. She carried a floral arrangement of blue and white daisies and baby’s breath on an open Bible. The Bible was a gift from the bridegroom. Music was provided by Mrs. Marilyn Knaulf, organist; Miss Sally Sittler. pianist; Mrs. Dick Shipley, soloist; and God’s Children singers. la Pale Blue Lee Ann Hall. Milford, served as maid of honor. and corsage of blue flowers. A pale blue floor length dress and corsage of white and blue flowers was worn by the bridegroom’s mother. Reception Follows Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held in the church fellowship room. The serving table was decorated in shades of blue and white. The large tiered wedding cake was adorned with blue flowers and was topped by a cross, intertwined wedding bands and blue flowers. Shirley Miller. Debby Searer. Betty Sorensen honored at bridal shower Wednesday A bridal shower was held at the Bethel Church of the Brethren in Milford an Wednesday evening for Miss Betty Sorensen of Fort Wayne. Miss Sorensen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sorensen of r 1 Milford. She will become the bride of Bruce Bultemeier of Fort Wayne on May 25. The program portion of the shower was opened with a fun contest with Mrs. Ben Kaiser. Jr., and Mrs. Allen Brunjes as winners. A humerous skit entitled “Tearful Parting” was then presented by Mrs. Ronn Smith and Mrs. Brunjes. A special vocal selection “Let It Be Me” was sung by Mrs. Larry Mast and Mrs. Larry Snider accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Dennis Wuthrich. Devotions for the evening were given by Mrs. Richard Smith. Miss Sorensen was assisted in opening her gifts by Mrs. Wuthrich and Miss Janet Doty. There were approximately 55 ladies and children present with special guests being Mrs. Norma Bultemeier, mother of the bridegroom-to-be, Fort Wayne; Miss Kay Sorensen, Nappanee; Mrs. Ray Sorensen, Mrs. Eldon Sorensen, Mrs. Dale Sorensen, Marcia and Maureen and Mrs. Robert Hurd, all of Milford. Refreshments of lemon dessert, nuts, coffee and tea were served from a table decorated with the bride’s chosen color of yellow and a centerpiece of freshly picked spring flowers. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Donn Kesler, Mrs Ralph Miller and Mrs. Fred Weisser. Wemple sisters at Anderson Miss Jackie Jo Wemple of Anderson, S.C., has been elected Woman of the Year of that town. Miss Wemple attended Anderson college where she is now employed as admittance consultant. She has organized and directs a singing group of students who sing all over South Carolina and on radio. Jerri Wemple, younger sister of Miss Wemple, is a freshman at Anderson college. She is an A student on the dean’s list, and has been elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa, national scholastic achievement society. She recently won a full scholarship for her sophomore year. The younger Miss Wemple also was chosen as one of 20 students to go to England for several weeks this summer. Jackie and Jerri Wemple are daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Jacque Wemple former residents of Milford. Luncheon date set for Afternoon Bridge-O-Rama The spring party for the Afternoon Bridge-O-Rama of the Lakeland area will be held at 12 noon on May 9 at The Cove Inn, i-ako Wawasee. Jennie Lee Hamman, daughter of Mrs. Ruth Hamman, r l Leesburg, and Nidi Yoder, son of Sir. and Mrs. Henry J. Yoder, Sr., r 2 Nappanee, were married April 26 during a single ring ceremony held at the First Baptist Church, Oswego. Rev. Raymond Finkbiner officiated. Mrs. Judy Neibert provided organ music. The altar was adorned with floral arrangements of white daisies. •The bride, given in marriage by Glenn White, her uncle, appeared in a floor-length gown of white netting over silk with chapel train. TV high ruffled neckline was adorned with seed pearls. The long sheer puffed sleeves featured wide lace ruffles over the bride’s hands. The gown was styled with V neckline and lace insert at the empire waist. Her elbow length veil was attached to a cloche style floral headpiece. She carried a bouquet of white daisies. Sister Serves Mrs. Jane Morton, Mentone, served as her sister’s matron of honor. She was attired in a light lavender gown styled like the bride’s. She wore a wide brimmed lavender hat and carried a white candle in a floral ring. Sherry Morton, Mentone, niece of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a light lavender gown identical to that of the honor attendant and carried a white basket of daisy and mum petals. Terry Morton, Mentone, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer. Paul Doddiger, Nappanee, served as best man.
