County to receive *358,253 More than $10.4 millibn in county adjusted gross income tax is being sent to 34 Indiana counties from the ,State Department of Revenue in the spring distribution. The distribution represents half of the “local option” funds to be returned to the 34 adopting counties this year. The law requires distribution of one-half the certified amount by May 1 of each year and the remaining half by November 1. The amounts distributed to 31 of the counties are based upon an estimate of collections from July 1, 1973 to June 30. 1974. Three other counties adopted the local option tax effective January 1 so their distributions for this year are based upon six months collections. The law established the percentage of the counties' distribution which must be used as property tax replacement funds and which will go to the participating taxing units as “certified shares. ” For the first year of county adjusted gross ncome tax distribution .the percentages which must be set aside far property tax replacement credits are 50 percent for counties with a half per cent tax rate, 66 and twothirds per cent for counties with a three-quarter per cent tax rate and 75 per cent for counties with a one per cent tax rate. This year Kosciusko county will receive $358,253.50 in the spring distribution. The comity rate is a half per cent. Driver cited following mishap John R. Williams, 32, r 3 Syracuse, was arrested April 20 after his pick-up truck failed to negotiate a curve on Main street in Goshen and hit five parked vehicles He was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcoholic beverages Williams was treated in the emergency room of Goshen hospital for minor lacerations of the forehead and right arm following the 3 a.m. mishap. Officers reported the Williams 1968 Chevrolet ElCamino first hit a parked 1965 Oidsmobile owned by Patricia Mickles, 515 South Main, then a 1984 Volkswagen belonging to Charles Parcel! of 518 South Main Next the truck hit a 1974 Ford owned by Ron's DuPont Paint store at 417 West Lincoln avenue. The fourth vehicle was a 1989 Oidsmobile owned by William Center of 521 South Main; and last, a parked 1965 Chevrolet convertible owned by Paul Fish, 527 South Main. The Syracuse vehicle then forced the Fish vehicle into a speed limit sign. Damage was estimated at more than $5,000.
