Omar Baumgartner Omar Leslie Baumgartner, Sr.. 66, former Milford businessman, died at 1:30 a m. Tuesday at his home at Ottumwa, lowa, following an illness of three and a half years. Death was attributed to a coronary occlusion. The deceased was a retired railroad engineer, having moved from the Milford community to lowa in November 1940. He was affectionately known as “Duck" by his friends in the Milford area. He was bom November 6, 1907 in Cissna Park, Illinois, and lived in Leesburg before the Baumgartner family moved to Milford in 1913. He was the son of the late Emil and Emma (Beer) Baumgartner “He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers, and attended the Methodist church. Survivors besides the widow, the former Addie Sanford, to whom he was married April 17, 1958. are four children by a previous marriage: two sons. Omar, Jr., and Emil, both of Sacramento. Calif., and two daughters. Mrs Claude (Audrey) Smith and Mrs Wayne (Janet) Allison, both of Stockton. Calif.; four brothers. Joseph C of Rocky River, Ohio, and Wilbur, Arthur and Archibald, all of Milford; and three sisters. Mrs. Ray (Clara) Ballard of Ottumwa. lowa, and Mrs. Helen Funk and Miss Edith Baumgartner, both of Milford. Funeral services will be 11 a m. Rinkel of the First United Methodist church will officiate al the service. Mrs. Leah Shively Mrs. Leah Maude Shively. 83, Leesburg, passed away Wednesday, April 3, at 8:15 a.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw. Mrs. Shively was bom on October 7, 1890 to William and Mary’ Frances (Brenner) Lemna in Warren county. She was united in marriage to Walter A. Shively on October 15, 1910 at Warsaw and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1963 Mrs. Shively was a member of the Leesburg Methodist church. Survivors include four brothers, Frank, Earl, Fred Lemna, all of Nappanee, and Leonard Lemna of Bloomingdale, Mich. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at a Warsaw funeral home with Rev. J. C. White and Rev. Ralph C. Burns officiating. Interment was in the Leesburg cemetery. S. Eugene Minnick Graveside services were held this morning (Wednesday) for S. Eugene Minnick, 50, of Chicago, DI., and brother of Harry Minnick. Jr.. North Webster. Death came early Monday morning at the Cooke County hospital there and was due to complications following a six week illness. Mr. Minnick was bom at South Bend on September 13,1923, a son of Harry L. Minnick, Sr., and Clara E. (Hurley) Minnick. He was a mechanic and lived in the Chicago area most of his life. In addition to the North Webster brother, he is survived by his parents of San Bernardino, Calif. and two other brothers. Robert and Orville, also of San Bernardino. Interment was in the North Webster cemetery. Gerald Bushong Funeral services will be held Thursday for Gerald Bushong, 73, of r 2 Syracuse. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse community, he passed away at his home Monday at 11:30 a m. of complications following an

illness of seven years. Mr. Bushong was bom at Syracuse on April 13, 1900, a son of Frank and Emma (MiUer) Bushong. His marriage to the former Meta Seehawer took place on June 21. 1922 and she survives. He was a farmer, member of the New Paris Missionary church and a past director of the Kosciusko county REMC. In addition to the widow, he is survived by three sons, Emerson of CrowmeD. Merton, McKinney. Texas, and Ralph of Syracuse; 12 grandchildren; and (me sister, Mrs. Walter (Mary) Wolever of Tippecanoe Lake, Leesburg. Friends may call at the Harris funeral home in Syracuse from 24 and 7-9 today (Wednesday). Rev. George Swank will officiate for the 1:30 service at the funeral home and interment will be in Syracuse cemetery. Mrs. William Eiler Services were held today (Wednesday) for Mrs. Cloy C. Eiler. 87, of Oakwood Park, Syracuse. She passed away Monday morning at the Prairie View rest home at Warsaw. Bom at Syracuse on July 8, 1886, she was a daughter of Albert and Alice Whitmer and lived most of her life in the Syracuse community. She was united in marriage August of 1932 to Rev. William L. Eiler, a pastor of the United Brethren church at Syracuse, and he preceded her in death in September of 1950. Mrs. Eiler was a school teacher and member of the Solomon’s Creek United Methodist church north of Syracuse. She is survived by one son, Rev. David Eiler of Naperville, DI.; a stepson. Linden Dale Eder, Peru; four grandchildren; one brother, John Darr of Syracuse; and a number of nieces and nephews. Burial was in Solomon's Creek cemetery. Mrs. Oliver Larson Mrs. Mary Mae Larson, 92. mother of Mrs. Velma Farrington of Syracuse, passed away at 4:50 this morning (Wednesday) at Miller’s Mery Manor, Warsaw, where she had been a resident since 1970. She had been in failing health fa* several years Mrs. Larson was born near Syracuse on September 11,1881, a daughter of Arron and Susan (Auer) McClintic, and lived most of her life in the Syracuse and North Webster communities. A housewife, she was united in marriage to Oliver E. Larson on July 19, 1898 and he preceded her in death in 1947. No other survivors were listed. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 Friday at the Harris-Troxel funeral home in North Webster where Rev. Clarence Fike will officiate for services Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in North Webster cemetery.

OTHER HOSPITAL NOTES Bryan Bower, North Webster, was dismissed from the Whitley County hospital at Columbia City last week. John Gutoski of North Webster was dismissed from the Whitley County hospital late last week. Mabel Brake of Syracuse is a patient at the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne where she was admitted on March 18 and underwent surgery on March 22. She is a patient in room 795. Michael Williams, North Webster, was admitted to the Columbia City hospital early this week. Births MILLER, Shan tel Renee Mr. and Mrs. John L. Miller of Dewart Lake are parents of their fourth daughter, Shantel Renee, bom premature at 9:59 am. Thursday, April 4, at the Goshen hospital. Tipping the scales at three pounds, five ounces. Shantel was immediatelytransferred to the Elkhart hospital where she remains in satisfactory condition. Shantel's sisters are Shari, 12, Sheli, 10, and Shawna, 2ti. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Bitner of Dewart Lake and Mrs. Janet Miller of Goshen is the paternal grandmother.
