Why I Am A Candidate For Councilman-At-large In Republican Primary We are now saddled with a tax we do not need. “Local Option”. Not a single representative of the county’s 41 taxing units appeared at the May 29. 1973. meeting and asked the tax be passed. Our property tax rate at that time ranked in the lower one third of the state’s 92 counties. We had no units near the legal taxing Politicians believe you and I do not notice the filching of a few cents per week from our pay checks. Councilman Merl Wertenberger, wtluJs a proponent of the tax. stated recently. “I didn’t believe anyone would kick over such a small amount.” If selected. 1 pledge to repeal the "Local Option Tax” that placed an undue burden on workers of Kosciusko county. We will let the courts decide whether the law is constitutional. .Ronald Sharp Candidate For Councilman-At-Large In The Republican Primary TMI M I* Paid Fw By *«MU Sharp

Federal crop 7 insurance expands for 1974 For 1974, corn and soybean guarantees have been increased by 12 to 14 per cent. This has been accomplished by establishing planting dates. The earlier you plant, the higher your guarantee, according to Dean Beck, FCIC sales supervisor. Each time a farmer lays out the ever increasing amounts of cash to grow his crop, he risks his most important asset, "His Working Capital.” No trick has been missed tc increase production and these increases are not cheap, especially this year. Serious crof losses can spell disaster. The 1974 feed grain program does not have provisions for a cash payment this year. Federal crop insurance can assume a large portion of your risk, according to the agriculture department. You could be making one of the most important farm management decisions of your lifetime by checking into this guaranteed production plan with increased corn and soybean guarantees. Applications can be accepted until May 10. Contact your local ASCS office or the Federal Crop Insurance office located at 513 Main Street, Rochester. Lon A.
