B' ANNIVERSARY OBSERVANCE Mr. and Mrs. Leo Druckamiller of r 4 Syracuse will be observing their 45th wedding anniversary today, March 27. A family dinner was held on Saturday. Mr. Druckamiller and the former Alma Heyde of the Nappanee area were united in marriage on March 27. 1929 and are the parents of four children. They are: Eugene of Syracuse; Mrs. Richard (Delorea) Hepler of Milford; Norman. Syracuse; and Arden of Indianapolis. The couple is also blessrd with five grandchildren.

Literacy training session at Apostolic Christian church
The fellowship hall of the Apoatdic Christian church in .Milford will be the scene of a 10 hour basic literacy training session on .March 28. 29 and 30 Hours for the session will be 7 pm to 10 p m on Thursday and Friday and 9 a m to 3 p m on Saturday This training is to teach interested volunteers to help persons to improve their reading and writing of English The material is totally phonetic and is adaptable to children, adults, including senior citizens and handicapped This program is best known around the world as the "Each one. teach one" method that was first used by Dr Frank laubach on the mission field in -the Philippine Islands 44 years ago Dr Laubach translated over 300 languages in his 84 years.

A reception followed at the home of the- bride's parents The cake was served from a table covered with a yellow cloth flanked with yellow flowers Miss Karen McNeil served and Miss Jean Peterson poured. The bride is a student at Wawasee high school, and her husband attended Syracuse school and is on leave with the US Army prior to reporting for duty in Germany.
The Kosciusko county literacycouncil is sponsoring this training session with Mrs. Rebecca Frankford, state chairman, in charge. She will be assisted by Mrs. Stanley Kintzel, Mrs. John Saemann and Mrs. David Poore of Warsaw. Persons interested may call Mrs Robert Hoerr of Milford for further information One may come without registration prior to the beginning session on Thursday, March 28. Volunteers are needed in Milford to help the Spanish people specifically to better their reading and writing of English. One class is now being conducted at the Catholic church in Milford by Warsaw tutors and Mrs. Hoerr Worthy things happen to the worthy.

Kappa Omicrons elects officers The Beta Sigma Phi, Kappa Omicron chapter of the Lakeland area met Thursday night at the home of Mrs. James Berkey with Mrs. Charles Koser elected president for the 1974-75 year. Response to roll call was “What are your plans for spring this year?" Mrs. Garry Webb presented the evening program on garage sales. It was decided the sorority will be helping on the cancer drive in the county this year and will have portions of Syracuse and Wawasee Village on April 22. Refreshments were served byMrs Donald LeCount and she will be hostess for the April 4 meeting. Mrs. Lippman talks to the Primary Mothers The Primary Mothers club of Syracuse met on Monday night in the home of Mrs. Thomas Leonard and heard a program given by Mrs. John Lippman on furniture stripping and staining. Later, the group enjoyed a tour of the Lippman home to see many of the couple*s beautiful antiques. The club made plans for its annual Etaster Egg hunt to be held on April 13 at the SmithWalbridge camp. The egg hunt is for the children of members only. Mrs Terry McLeod and Mrs. Lowell Hill served as cohostesses for the evening. Twi lighters entertained in Bitner home Mrs. Gerald Bitnter was hostess for the March meeting of the Twilighters Bunco club at Syracuse with Mrs. Delbert Whitehead assisting. Ebenezer Ladies meet recently in Wilkinson home Mrs. Roy Wilkinson was hostess for the March meeting of the Ebenezer Ladies Aid group of the Lakeland area with 21 members in attendance. Devotions were by Mrs. Edwin Green and Mrs. Raymond Bitner. Mrs. Melburn Rapp, Mrs. Emma Souder, Nancy Green and Jenny Green were visitors. Assisting the hostess during the social hour were Mrs. Green and Mrs Bitner. The April meeting will be with Mrs. Vernon Fawley.

room were decorated with Mrs. Beer's chosen colors of red, white and blue and her chosen flower, the carnation. Mrs. Harry L. Beer made corsages of artificial red and white carnations and red, white and blue clover spikes for the installing officers, officers and special guests. She also made centerpieces for the head and refreshment table in the reception room. Refreshments of cake, nuts, mints, coffee, tea and orange drink were served by a committee of Masons headed by master Bob Richardson. Those attending the installation came from Illinois, Michigan and Indiana. Among the special guests present were Mrs. Eunice Craft and Mrs. Victoria A. Mrs. Beiswanger hostess for Columbian Reading Circle
Mrs. Arlo Beiswanger was hostess to the Columbian Reading Circle in her home on Monday evening. Mrs. Max Duncan presided. Mrs. Beiswanger reported on the County Convention of Federated Women’s clubs which she attended in Mentone recently. Mrs. Harry Dale Doty demonstrated the use of a voting machine which is to be used in the primary election. A silent auction was held. Mrs. Herbert Stump delivered Leesburg home ec club meets in Smoker home Mrs. Charles Smoker was hostess to the Leesburg home ec club on Wednesday evening with Mrs. Hazel Kline of Milford serving as co-hostess. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Everett Tom, Sr., in the usual form. Devotions were given by Mrs. Kline who also read a poem about friends. The garden report was given by Mrs. John Lursen who told about new garden and flower seeds. Mrs. Max Anglin gave the health report talking about both cancer and blood transfusions. Mrs. Chester Albert gave the citizens report by reading a poem “To Our Flag.” She also read the county constitution and by-laws. Response to roll call was a favorite early spring flower. Sixteen members were present. Mrs. Howard Smith gave the lesson on protecting your home and what to do when you go on vacation. She stressed not putting the item in the newspaper until you return, leaving a light on in the home while you are gone and never leaving a key under the mat. The door prizes were won by Mrs. Albert and Mrs. Hosea Rosbrugh. Decorations and refreshments were in keeping with Saint Patrick’s day with a salad, potato chips, nuts, mints, coffee and tea being served. The April 17 meeting will be in the home of Mrs. Robert Bishop. Community Hands meet Wednesday By LEISA NAPIER The Community Hands 4-H club met last Wednesday evening in the Syracuse junior high cafeteria at which time Steve Hoopingarner gave a demonstration on the 4-H achievement record book. The meeting was brought to order by president Dennis Darr. The pledges were given by Brian Roberts and Dave Culler. Brian Roberts led a discussion on first year cattle projects. The meeting was adjourned by the president at 8:15 p.m.

the ceramic items which were made at the last meeting. Mrs. Darrell Orn led the ladies in the game of Po-Ke-No with Mrs. Larry Haney winning the prize. Refreshments of sherbert dessert, cookies, coffee and tea were served. The April 22 meeting will be held in the home of Mrs. Larry Haney with a local artist being the guest speaker. The style show spring party will be held on May 6. o BRIDE-ELECT — Announcement has been made of the engagement of Miss Jocelyn Yea ter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold P. Yeater of r 1 New Paris, to Elwood Jay Kauffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood R. Kauffman of r 1 Millersburg. Miss Yeater graduated from Bethany Christian high school and International junior college and is employed by Salem Bank and Trust Company, Goshen. Her fiance, a Fairfield alumnus, is self employed in farming. No wedding date has been set. Tippy Lee club has pot luck Members of the Tippy Lee home ec club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hearn on a recent Friday night for a husband’s night pot luck supper and euchre party. There were 12 couples present. The next meeting will be held in the home of Mrs. Richard Allen. Happiness is a state of mind ttry to remember that when worried.
