Jim Stout on all-conference basketball team, others named
Wawasee Warrior Jim Stout was named to the first team at the Northern Lakes Conference banquet last Thursday night He received a gold basketball. Stout, a senior, shot 53 per cent from the field, scoring IK points in NLC games He was also cited for his excellence on defense inside Others named to the first team were Steve Slickel of North Wood. There were 22 schools participating in the three gymnastics classes Portage won both the intermediate and optional classes with 93 0 and 83 2 points respectively. Munster captured second in both divisions with 86 4 in intermediate and 79.25 in optional Other schools participating were Snider. John Adams, Wayne. Northrop. Chesterton. Manchester. Gary Wirt. In final NLC standings the Warriors placed third in a 4-3 tie with North Wood. Rochester, undefeated until the sectional tournament, won the conference title with a 7-0 record. Warsaw and Plymouth were tied at 5-2. Concord as fourth with 2-5. Bremen had 1-4 and Manchester had a 0-7 conference’ record. AU Sports TaUy In the all sports tally after winter sports Warsaw is first with 99 points, Plymouth is second with 90 points and Rochester is third with 84.5. They are followed by North Wood with 76 points. Wawasee with 75, Manchester with 32, Bremen with 30.5 and Concord with 17 points.

There will be a carry-in dinner Goshen driver escapes injury as car rolls Douglas E. Marchand. 22, r 6 Goshen, escaped injury last Wednesday when his car went out of control and rolled over. The accident happened on state road 15 near county road 1350 N, north of Milford, at 9:30 p.m. County patrolman Richard Fehnel estimated damage to the car at 81.000.

Bantam league ends season
Boys and girls entered in the Saturday Bantam bowling program at Wawasee Bowl finished their season on March 2. Trophies and awards were given that day. A light lunch was served to the boys and girls by Mr. and Mrs. Jake Kern %nd staff. CHAMPIONSHIP GAME ‘EXCELLENT’ Milford junior high school principal Marion Acton who refereed the state championship basketball game on Saturday night said it was an “excellent game.” He further stated both teams enjoyed playing and there was no comparing the attitude of the players with the controversial game of two years ago when be refereed the state finals. Northrup of Fort Wayne defeated Jeffersonville 59-56 to capture the state crown.
Firemen make Friday run Syracuse volunteer firemen responded to a call at the Charles Beck farm about four miles east of Syracuse at 12:03 Friday for trash burning in an open field. The call was placed by an individual who thought the fire was out of hand as no one was in view, however, the trash had been set afire and was being watched. There was no damage.
