Found by officers was a sleeping bag and clothing valued at $57, taken from the vehicle belonging to W'illiam Bean of Lake street. Also recovered was an $lB suit of clothes belonging to John Gardner of r 1 Milford. All goods have been returned to respective owners
Warriorette swimmers second in regional
By SANDY GERENCSER The Warriorette swim team, coached by Cynthia Peterson, won second in the regional at Lewis-Cass last Saturday. Several swimmers will represent Wawasee at state. To qualify for state the girls had to finish first or second at regional. Deb Doty will go to state in the 50 and 100 backstroke as she placed second in both events. Her times were : 34.41 and 1:16.60 respectively Joy Becker will be going in the 50 and 100 breaststroke. She took second in both races with times of .36 58 and 1:21.11 respectively Lisa Bosstick will go to state in the 50 freestyle She placed second as she set a new school
Syracuse Camp Fire girls observing birthday this week
The Syracuse Camp Fire girls are observing the national birthday of their organization this week — March 17 thru 24. Because of the work and cooperation of chairwoman Mrs. Peg Over felt, all leaders, assistants and sponsors the Syracuse Camp Fires have enjoyed a very successful year. In spring and fall the Blue Birds and Camp Fire held their annual candy sales. Spring cleanup proved to be useful to the community and helped the girls learn how rewarding it is to help in their community. This project turned out to be a community effort in which many different groups helped In the summer the Camp Fire day camp was held. Many Camp Fire girls and Blue Birds took part. Cooking meals over open fires, setting up tents, sleeping out all night and enjoying the wonderful nature of the Boy Scouts woods were all rewarding. In September the group organization for new Blue Birds took place. This was conducted by- Mrs. Norman Stevenson. A total of 58 new Blue Birds were signed up and four groups were formed and many mothers volunteered to be new leaders, assistants and sponsors. This enlarged Camp Fire in Syracuse to a total of 93 girls. In November the Camp Fire ceremonial and Blue Bird Fly up was held. Mrs. Ernest Knight

Low income housing proposed for Milford
A community meeting for rural low-income rental housing will be held on Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m. in the UMA community center at Main and Fourth streets in Milford to discuss rural lowincome rental housing for Milford. The meeting will be chaired by Alex Morris, rural coordinator of the department for Spanish Speaking People, Fort WayneSouth Bend diocese. Jane Simpson was fourth in the 100 butterfly as she swam it in 1:25.25. In the 100 freestyle Marlys Staley took fourth with 1:10.24, Lisa Bosstick won sixth with 1:12.79, Esti Keen was seventh with a time of 1:12.80. Tammy Bosstick was sixth in the 400 freestyle with 5 ;46.71. Dyanne Tracy took ninth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:32.65. The Lu Ta Lo La group have a window display at The Mail-, Journal office, and a roller skating party was held in Elkhart yesterday with 107 attending. Both March 17 and March 24 have been named church Sundays and girls are wearing uniforms to be recognized. Tuesday the girls wore their uniforms to school.

A construction contract was awarded to L 4 P Landscaping, Inc., Roanoke, in an amount of $25,068.60 for screwing of a junkyard located at the intersection of SR 15 and US 30 bypass north of Warsaw. A maintenance contract was awarded to Pierceton Equipment Co., Inc., of Laketon in an amount of $31,805 65 for roadside mowing along US 30 from the Whitley county line to the Marshall county line in Kosciusko county.
