Mrs. David Everts led in singing the song of the month far the March 6 meeting of Sechrist 66 home extension club The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Gene Gauthier. She was assisted by Mrs. Russell Moore. The meditation was presented by Mrs. Larry Teghtmeyer. During the business session copies of the newly revised club constitution were distributed. Packett lessons were discussed and plans for spring achievement were finalized. The slate of new officers was presented and voted on. Refreshments were served followed by a social hour Bolivian missionaries in Webster Mr and Mrs. Ken Graber, missionaries from Bolivia, were present at a North Webster United Methodist church class party held March 9 at the home of Mr Keith Henderson. Barbee church has youth night March 16 Youth night will be held at Barbee Community church on March 16 from 7 p.m. till 9 p.m. Dewight Ritenour, recreation director, will l>e in charge of the activities Activities night held at ESarbee conservation club Activities night was held March 6 at Barbee Conservation club. Mrs. S. Bryant is hostess for Charm,Chatter Mrs. Sherman Bryant was hostess for the March 4 meeting of Charm *N Chatter home extension club. Mrs. Kay White assisted the hostess. Mrs. Preston Gregory, vice president, was in charge of the meeting due to the illness of the regular president, Mrs. Harold Anderson. Garden remarks and the citizenship report were given by Mrs. Vem Hunt. She demonstrated how to use the new voting machines. Mrs. Marvin Ward gave the health and safety lesson. Roll call response was “A storm I feared the most." It was announced that the club is going to adopt another patient at a local nursing home. Plans were discussed for the “Mom's night out" social to be held in May. Mrs. Gilbert Baumlee gave a lesson entitled “Protecting your home". She stressed that home security starts with the individual. Mrs Art Osborn was a guest The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs.' James McNabb. Webster WCTU to host the county meeting Members of North Webster WCTU met March 5 at the North Webster Church of the Brethren The meditation was given by Elizabeth Baker. Plans were discussed concerning the county meeting to be hosted by the North Webster group. Raymond Richards wed to Miss Coplin The recent wedding of Raymond Richards to Linda Coplen, at Elkhart, was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kiser. Ruth Rose, Mrs Eva Lock and Leonard Hoffhien The bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. Lock and a former resident of North Webster. Barbee Hoosier club has first meeting The officers were hostesses for Barbee Hoosier club's first meeting of the year. The group met March 6 at the conservation club building. A carry-in dinner was served at noon. The afternoon was spent playing games. Webster Lady Lions see film A state police film about the Bull Island Rock festival was shown at the March 5 meeting of
North Webster Lady Lions. Plans were discussed for a fish fry to be held in June. Plans were also discussed for several dances to be held during 1974 at Camelot Hall in the International Palace of Sports, North Webster, Guests present were: Mrs. Clifford Rider, Mrs. Dick Shock, Marilyn Hodkins and Mrs. Ernie Whitaker Auxiliary meets on March 4 North Webster Fireman's Auxiliary met March 4 at the fire station. Mrs. Verlin Bockman was hostess. Mrs. Steve White, president, was in charge of the business meeting. Money making projects were discussed. Mrs. David Burns and Mrs. Richard Mitchell were appointed to investigate a fund raising project to be sponsored during the Mermaid festival in June. Mrs. Jerry Richrrdson was accepted as a new member. Rev. John Weeks at Adrian Rev. John Weeks, pastor of North Webster United Methodist church recently spent three days at Adrian college. While there he taught classes concerning leader ministries, shared work and responsibility and meeting the leisure needs of the community. 'Send I You* is program John Easton. Rensselaer, was guest speaker at the March 3 Sunday evening service of North Webster United Methodist church. He presented a program of slides and music entitled “So Send I You.” A. C. UNDERWOODS IN CALIFORNIA Rev. and Mrs. A. C. Underwood are on a trip to California. They will visit Rev. Underwood’s mother and help her celebrate her 92d birthday. Clemmer, Mrs. Joyce Johnson Neumann and Michael W. Sommer are among 17 Goshen college students who are doing seven weeks of student teaching. Miss Thelma J. Clemmer is teaching physical education at Milford elementary and junior high school. Milford. She is the daughter of Mrs. Arlene M. Clemmer of Harveyville, Pa. Mrs. Neumann is teaching physical education at Wawasee high school. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Johnson of Griffith. Sommer is teaching biology at Wawasee. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne C. Sommer of Foosland, DI. Advance to speech regional Saturday The Wawasee high school speech team participated in the speech sectional Saturday at Manchester high school with four students earning the right to represent Wawasee in the regional this Saturday at Elmhurst high school, Fort Wayne. Students participating are Becky Replogle, a senior member of the team placing fourth in girls extemporaneous speaking; Caryl Coy, freshman, fifth in girls extemporaneous speaking; Tim Hoppes, senior, fifth in impromptu speaking; and Dan Martin, freshman, sixth in radio broadcasting. Dan and Caryl are the first freshmen ever to win in sectional competition. This is the third year of speech competition for the Wawasee squad and the first time Wawasee has sent four speakers to a regional. Members of the speech team, in addition to the four above are Karen Cooper, Cindy Hyndman, Jane Wilson, Ron Wuthrich, and Walter Lead). Schools competing in the sectional Saturday were Wawasee, Warsaw, Whitko, Rochester. Bellmont, Manchester, Columbia City, Northfield, Norwell, Huntington North, Southern Wells and Wabash. Manchester won the sectional with 52 points with Columbia City placing second with 49. Auto broken into at high school Darrell Clark of r 1 Leesburg reported to Syracuse police Saturday night that his auto had been broken into in the Wawasee high school parking lot. Missing were two speakers, two tape boxes and 25 or 30 tapes. State and town police continue the investigation. Community Hands hold bowling party By LEISA NAPIER The Community Hands 4-H dub held its annual bowling party on March 9 at Wawasee Bowl, Syracuse. There were over 40 members, parents and guests present.
Bart Hedington host for 4-H club meeting The February meeting of the Chain-O-Lakes 4-H club was hosted by Bart Hedington. The meeting was called to order by the vice-president, Steve Rhodes. He called on Tony Miller and Lisa Harris to led the pledges to the U.S. flag and the 4-H flag. Janet Rhodes read the secretary’s report and roll call. It was noted that the club had 100 per cent attendance at the officers' training session. The treasurer's report was given. He mentioned that a check had been mailed to the ( “Lori Schue Fund”. / The members were reminded of the enrollment date, March 1. Any person interested in becoming new members are urged to call the closest leader. A report on health and safety was given by Tina Hedington. Song leader, Debbie Engelberth, led the group in singing several songs. Tina Hedington chose “A Valentine Dessert’’ for her demonstration. This was then served for refreshments, along with hot chocolate. The recreation period was under the direction of Mary Beth Rhodes. At the conclusion of this the club was dismissed for the meeting. The March meeting will be at the home of Debra Engelberth. David Engelberth host for 4-H club meeting By LORI RHOADES The Chain-O-Lakes 4-H club met recently at the home of David Engelberth. The president, Jerry Rhodes, opened the meeting by calling on Toni Miller and Sheri Long to lead the pledges. Linda Engelberth read devotions for the club. The secretary’s report and roll call was read by Janet Rhodes. It was noted that the deadline for either adding or dropping new projects was April 1. Health and safety remarks were given by Toni Miller. Everyone joined with Debbie Engelberth in the singing of songs. Brenda Rhodes had games. Linda Engelberth gave a demonstration on making punch while Dawn Engelberth gave a demonstration on making pudding, which they later served as refreshments. The next meeting will be at the home of Lori Rhoades. AUGUST WEDDING PLANNED — Mr. and Mrs. W. DeFord Hite of r 1 Syracuse announce the engagement of their daughter. Celeste, to William Brian Cutter, son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Cutter of 7H N. Huntington, Syracuse. A graduate of South Side high school in Fort Wayne. Miss Hite is a junior majoring in physical education at Ball State university. Her fiance, a graduate of Wawasee high school, is a junior at Bali State university majoring in business administration. He is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon social fraternity. An August 17 wedding is planned.

Amy Purdum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Purdum, Jr., will represent the Milford community and the American Legion Auxiliary unit 226 this year at the annual Hoosier Girls’ State. Amy is a junior at Wawasee and a member of the language arts club, GAA, tennis team, National Honor Society, executive council and co-editor of the yearbook. * Roxana is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Auer. She is a VFW holding open house and dance The Lakeside VFW Post 1342 at Syracuse is holding 4 an open house all day Saturday, climaxed by a Saint Patrick’s Day dance Saturday evening. member of the girls sports club, concert choir, orchestra and participates in girls sports. Hoosier Girls’ State has been moved to Indiana State university at Terre Haute this year. Along with a full week of learning how the state government is run, a full recreational program is included with swimming added. Again this year a scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding girl. Last year's scholarship went to a Whitko high school girl. Saturday. A special invitation is extended for the dance beginning at 9 p.m. Cub Scouts tour M-J Members of pack 3828, den two, Syracuse Cub Scouts with their leader Mary Lou Dixon toured The Mail-Journal printing plant on Tuesday afternoon. Den members making the tour were Steve Slabaugh, Steve Grindle, Randy Hunter, Allen Kinney, Bill Dixon, Tim Roth and a guest, John Dixon.
