THE MAIL-JOURNAL Wed., Mar. 6,1974 By DOROTHY HANEY “Verily, I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my Brethren, ye have done it unto me.” — Saint Matthew 25:40 Take a close look at your hands. I recall my biology professor telling us that the opposing thumb is a most important human characteristic that distinguishes us from the animals — enabling us to do many things they can’t do. If you don’t believe it, try to do most anything without using your thumbs! Yet, are our hands doing what they can to help in the Lord’s work? Hands can scratch and slap and hurt. Hands can reach out in love, pat folks on the back. Hands can just hang off the ends of our sleeves — they don’t hurt, but they don’t help either. I’m concerned that our hands are too often left hanging idle when a touch or gesture or a kind deed could be helping make someone’s way a little easier. Often our hands are so busy helping ourselves that there is not time left to help others. Let’s resolve our priorities! Are we using too much time doing unnecessary things? There are many tasks in the church that need to be done. The UMW needs hands to cut squares or sew for the lap robe project. The World Missionary Press needs hands to feed its machines one night a month from our chdrch. Hands are needed to help guide our young children in Sunday school. Are our hands helping, hurting, or doing nothing constructive? Leave some time in your life to use your hands for others! Prayer: Our Father, thank you for our hands and what they can do. May we show our appreciation by serving and helping others. Amen. Pre-school story hour is Friday A pre-school story hour will be held this Friday, starting at 12:30, in the children’s department of the Syracuse public library, according to an announcement by children’s librarian Mrs. Oscar Bjella.

God is blessing us in a wonderful way and we invite you to come worship with us on His day. We now have two bus routes. Last Sunday we had an alltime worship attendance record of 326. In the name of Christ we bid you welcome to our church, its work and worship, its instruction and service, its comfort and blessing. “ The church has something for you that you can’t get elsewhere.
