He moved to Indiana in 1920 and to Milford in 1940 He had been a teacher in the school at Milford since 1940 He was married to Mary Jane Helminger on April 26. 1941 and she preceded him in death on August 30. 1960 He and Inez Fuller were married June 2,1962 and she survives He was a member of the Milford United Methodist church where he served as financial secretary He was treasurer of the Milford Lions club and the dub s immediate past president. He had served as secretary of the Masonic lodge 418 F and AM for over 20 years Surviving with the wife are two sons. Dr Bradley Beiswanger of Indianapolis and John Beiswanger of Muncie; three step-children. Jan Fuller of Huntsville. Ala., Tom Fuller of Michigan City and Mrs Michael (Vickie) Arnoit of Stockton. Calif ; five grandchildren and four step-grandchildren, four brothers. Arden and Leßoy of Kendallville and Eldon and Paul of Wolcottville; and three sisters, Mrs Theodore (Irene) Gage of White Pegion. Mich., Mrs. Bazil (Lucille) Van Wagner of Wolcottville and Mrs Burnell (Jean* Aungst of Kendallville One sister preceded him m death. Masonic services were held on Sunday night and a special

Rev Ralph Karstedt. pastor of the church, officiated at the Monday afternoon services with burial in the Milford cemetery A memorial fund has been established with Rev. Karstedt sening as administrator. Glen W. Biller Glen W. Biller. 67. r 2 Milford, passed away Thursday at 11:55 pm at the Elkhart hospital where he had been admitted earlier. Mr. Biller's death was attributed to a heart condition. Mr. Biller was bom on September 9, 1906 to Mr. and Mrs Samuel Biller in Jefferson township He was united in marriage to Pearl Starrett on November 24. 1938 and she survives. He had been a resident of the Milford area most of his life and was a retired employee of Vitreous Steel Co.. Nappanee. Surviving with the widow is one daughter. Mrs Roger Jenafie' Hom. Granger and one granddaughter Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Milford funeral home with Rev David Widmoyer officiating Interment w'as in the South Union cemetery at Nappanee Mrs. Samuel Friend Services were held Monday for Mrs. Carolyn Friend. 26. Goshen and sister of Orville Evans. Jr ot Syracuse. Death came Saturday at Elkhart hospital where she had been a patient nearly a month due to cancer Mrs. Friend was born in Goshen on June 17, 1947. a daughter of Orville and RubyEvans. and lived in the Goshen community' all of her life Her marriage to Samuel Friend took place in 1970 and he survives. In addition to the husband. Syracuse brother, and parents, she is survived by a daughter. Coieen; three sons, Steve, Ernest and Samuel. Jr., all at home five other brothers and three sisters. Interment was in Oak Ridge cemetery

Tippecanoe. who were killed in an auto-truck accident Wednesdayevening on SR U two and one half miles south of Leesburg Both Mr. and Mrs Smith were killed instantly. A passenger in the Smith truck. Bethel Ratliff. Leesburg, a sister to Mrs. Smith, is listed in fair condition at the Parkview hospital in Fort Wayne with lacerations to the left knee and a fractured jaw Mrs Smith. 54. the former Cora Ratliff, was bom on November 14. 1919 in Johnson county. Kentucky. to George and Rachel (Arms< Ratliff She was united in marriage to Prater Smith on September 30.1952 at Paintsville. Ky They had formerly lived in Warsaw before moving to California where they were residents of nine years. They had returned to this area only four months ago. Surviving Mrs. Smith with the sister are three other sisters. Mrs Doshie Blair. Bornis Creek. Ky.. Mrs. Dora May. Atwood. Mrs .Alka Bays. Lucky. Ohio; four brothers. Ervin Ratliff. Leesburg. Elliott Ratliff. Claypool. G. B Ratliff. Cincinnati. Ohio, and George Ratliff. Aces Creek. Ky. . Prater Smith. 47. was bora to Harry and Liza (Adams) Smith on October 22.1926 at Cyrus. Ky. He was an employ ee of the B & G Foundry at Tippecanoe. His survivors include two sisters. Mrs. Wanda Ballard. North Carolina, and Mrs. Vina Workman, Bluntsville; one brother. Bill. Columbus, Ohio. Rev. Albert Whitaker and Rev. .Aaron Stanley officiated at the Pentecostal Lighthouse church, of which Mr. and Mrs. Smith were members. Interment was in the Leesburg cemetery. Elkhart hospital where she had been taken from the Turtle Creek Convalescent center at Elkhart. Formerly employed with Drake's department store in Elkhart, she was born south of Nappanee on October 28. 1902. Her marriage to Dewey Freed took place on November 27, 1919 and he preceded her in death in 1973 In addition to the Syracuse brother, she is survived by a son. two daughters, four grandchildren. and one other brother Interment was in Stony Point cemetery. Kaleel T. Juday Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Peoples Bible church at Benton for Kaleel T. Juday. 75. r 4 box 150 Goshen. Juday died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday- in the Elkhart hospital after a 10-day illness. He was born near Solomons Creek on August 12. 1898. A farmer, he had also worked for 10 years at Standard Plating in Goshen. He and the former Laura Hapner were married on November 30. 1919. Surviving with the widow are two daughters. Mrs. L. Stieglitz, 71, 825 Grant St., Elkhart, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Milford Apoistolic Christian church. Miss Stieglitz passed away Wednesday. Feb. 27, at 5:30 a.m. Death was attributed to complications. Miss Stieglitz was bora to George and Emma Stieglitz on July 17, 1902 at Metamore, 111. She was a member of the Milford Apostolic Christian church. Survivors include one brother, Henry-, r 2 Milford; four sisters, Miss Lydia Stieglitz. Logansport. Miss Florence Stieglitz. She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers Interment was in the Milford cemetery Mrs. Burdette Thornburg Funeral sen-ices were held Monday morning at Anderson for Mrs Helen Jean Thornburg. 55, mother of Mrs. Jack (Cynthia) Peterson, a teacher at Wawasee high school. Death came last Wednesday of fatal injuries sustained in a grocery store parking lot at Key West, Fla. A Lake Wawasee summer resident of Bayshore Beach for a number of years, she was born July 22, 1918. In addition to the Syracuse daughter, she is survived by her husband. Burdette, a brother of Joe Thornburg erf Syracuse Lake; her father; one son, Steve, Anderson; and two grandchildren. Robert J. Baker Funeral services were held Friday for Robert J. (Pop) Baker. 63. of Elkhart and father of Mrs. Bette Schlotterback of Syracuse. Death came Wednesday afternoon following an extended illness. Mr. Baker, a veteran of World War 11, was retired from Action Industries and formerly was employed for Day’s Transfer. Mrs. David Varney and daughter of North Webster were dismissed from the Wabash County hospital at Wabash early this week. Ray Haab of r 1 Syracuse was released from the Murphy Medical Center Friday evening and returned to work on Monday. Mrs. Robert Hamman of r 1 Cromwell has returned home from Goshen hospital where she underwent major surgery two weeks previously. TAKEN TO HOSPITAL Norman Garber of r 2 Syracuse received emergency treatment at the Syracuse fire station at 5:01 Saturday morning, and was taken by private ambulance to Goshen hospital for further treatment. Extent or cause of the injuries were not listed.
