Old bank vault to serve as statue base, storage area
A great deal of speculation has arisen recently as to why the vault from the old North Webster Bank building was left standing after the rest of the building was torn down According to Tim Moser, assistant director of the International Palace of Sports, the vault will serve as the base for a statue of a knight on a horse. The vault stands on the northwest corner of Camelot Square in North Webster. The outside of the vault will be finished with
North Webster Girl Scouts to observe National Scout week
North Webster Girl Scouts will be observing National Girl Scout week March 10 through March 17. Brownie Scout troops 63. 101 and 167 under the leadership of Mrs. Mildred Gray. Mrs. Marlene Charlton and Mrs. Mary Harreld and Junior Girl Scout troop 178 under the leadership of Mrs. Janet Breece, will attend church services together on March 10. The girls will attend a song fest and ingathering to be held from 3 pm till 4:30 p.m . March 10, at the Claypool gym The event is being held in honor of the Juliet Lowe World Friendship Fund. Lambda Chi Omega meets at Camelot hall Feb. 26
Members of Beta Psi Chapter of Lambda Chi Omega met February 26 at Camelot Hall. The evening was spent decorating wooden covers for cookbooks. Plans were discussed for the “Shamrock Swing” dance to be held March 22 at Camelot Hall in the International Palace of Rev. Gonzales to be at Barbee Rev. Frank Gonzales and the God Squad gospel team will be conducting evangelistic services at Barbee Community church March 24 through March 31.

At the present time several Indiana artists are working on designs and cost estimates for the proposed metalic statue.

A lesson on kitchen planning was given by Mrs. Marion Lantz. As a roll call response each member composed a Valentine poem. A citizenship report, concerning the use of voting machines, was presented by Mrs. Kip Sullivan. Mrs. Jerry Minton gave the health and safety report. Plants that grow well together were discussed by Mrs. Joe Stock. Members of the nominating committee are; Mrs. Paul Baugher. Mrs. Jerry Minton and Mrs. Paul Royer. A committee to revise the club constitution, was appointed. Committee members are: Mrs. Jerry Helvey, Mrs. David Stookey, Mrs. Paul Kline and Mrs. Charles Long. The March meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Charles Long. Mrs. Allen Sheppard will be co-host ess. Dr. Shank speaks to Kiwanians Dr. Wendell Shank, Syracuse, was guest speaker at the February 25 meeting erf Lakeland Kiwanis club. He discussed his tour of volunteer service with the Christian Medical Society. Dr. Shank showed slides of his three week trip to Haiti, San Domingo and the Caribbean, as one of more than a dozen optometrists who gave free eye care to needy people. It was announced that the board meeting would be held March 4 in the fellowship hall of the United Methodist church. Sherm Bryant suggested that members check their supply of popcorn.
