THE MAIL-JOURNAL Wed., Feb. 27, 1974 - {New Salem, |By MRS. HERB MOREHOUSE| Women's Fellowship meets on Thursday The Women’s Fellowship met Thursday at a local restaurant to enjoy a birthday dinner. After the dinner Mrs. Ray Ferverda served a birthday cake to the guests. The women then gathered in the Ferverda home for their meeting. Mrs. Glen Morehouse led in singing “Take Time to be Holy.” Mrs. Dale Morehouse was in charge of devotions and read articles “So Swift the Way, So Short the Day" and “Windows of Gold" from Helen Steiner Rice. She also led in prayer. Mi's. Inez Shively read “Half Way Doin’s ain’t no Count;” “Are You Soft Soaping God;’’ and “A Cblored Convert’s Application for the Ministry." Mrs. Frank Johnson read old minutes from meetings dating back as far as 1913 and on to 1946. Those celebrating birthdays recently were Mrs. Inez Shively, Mrs. Frank Johnson and Mrs. Herman Ginther. Mrs. Lydia Morehouse's birthday will be March 5 and hers was observed also. Others attending were Mrs. Ray Ferverda. Mrs. Herbert Morehouse, Mrs. Glen Morehouse. Mrs. Dale Morehouse. Mrs. Russell Baker, Mrs. Rhoda Mock and Mrs. Paul Schermerhorn. Sunday morning services held Martin Lemberg of Chicago sang and accompanied himself on the guitar “For Me to Live is Christ." on Sunday morning. The Meek cousins also sang “There is no other way” during the morning worship hour. The cousins are Lorraine and Sharon Meek, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Meek and Lisa, Ellen and Angela Meek, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Gareth Meek, all of Syracuse. Mrs. Gareth Meek accompanied on the piano. John Glaser of Warsaw delivered the morning message “What Should I do to Serve the Lord?” using scriptures Revelation 1:12-17, Ezekiel 1:2628 and Isaiah 6:1-6. Young People in charge in the evening The Young People were in charge of Sunday evening services. Rick Rapp led the congregational singing. Mike Vance spoke on faith, Stanley Kilmer spoke on Hope and Bill Newcum spoke on love with I Corinthians as their main scripture. COMMUNITY NEWS Pastor Chad Woodburn was dismissed Thursday from the Murphy Medical Center at Warsaw. He is gradually improving. Mrs.. Stone, grandmother of John Glaser and Martin Lemberg, both of Chicago, were week end guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Glaser and family at Warsaw. The 82d birthday oi: Ed Smith was observed Thursday evening with a dinner in the hone of Mr. and Mrs. Vere Wildman and sons of near Warsaw. Others enjoying the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mathews. Miss Donna Moser was a ’ Sunday dinner guest of Mrs. Edna Tom and Doris and Mrs. Emma Cripe. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Johnston and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Morehouse of Leesburg. Saturday evening callers in the Morehouse home were Mr. and Mrs. Ron Tyler and sons of Nappanee and Mr and Mrs. David Morehouse of near WarW A Mr. and Mrs. Gay Cripe of aaypool called in Hie Mrs. Edna Tom home on Thursday. Mrs Lydia Morehouse and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Morehouse called on Mrs. Clara Fisher of Peru on Sunday afternoon. - NS— Jehovah upcoming circuit assembly set Arrangements have been completed for the upcoming circuit assembly of Jehovah’s witnesses to be held March 2-3, at the East Noble junkr high school in Avilla. The announcement was made by Dennis E. Gose, presiding minister of the Syracuse congregation. Sessions will begin at 9 o’clock Saturday morning and conclude Sunday afternoon at 4:30. Highlight of the assembly will be the special address Sunday at 2 p.m. entitled, “Be Confident of Divine Victory.” Scheduled to deliver this address is R. P.« Lovinger, district representative of the Watchtower Bible and Tract society, Brooklyn, N. Y., . sponsors of the convention.
