The annual Syracuse elementary fine arts festival is set for this Thursday evening at 7:30 pm in the boys’ gym Theme being used for the evening of music and art will be "The Wonderful World of Disney" and will feature songs, dances, and costumed characters, from every grade level, kindergarten through grade five. Past Chiefs meet Feb. 13 Past Chiefs of the Pythian Sisters met February 13 at the home of Mrs. Carl Kissinger. During the short business meeting plans were discussed for the April 17 convention to be held at North Webster. New officers were installed. They are: Mrs. Harry Bause — president Mrs. Charles Menzie — vice president Mrs. Myrtle Greisinger — secretary-treasurer Mrs. Leonard Vanator was a guest. A Valentine theme highlighted the refreshment table. Sechrist 65 elects officers A slate of new officers was presented during the February 13 meeting of Sechrist 65 home extension club. The club met at the hone of Mrs. Sue Garr. Mrs. Dave Everts was assistant hostess. The new officers are: Mrs. Stanley Hamman — President Mrs. Jay Boyer — vice president Mrs. Jean Gauthier — secretary-treasurer The group discussed the Christmas bazaar: Tulip trip to Michigan; changes in the constitution and spring achievement. College students to present program A group of six students from Warner South college, Lake Wales, Fla., will present a program at the February 24 evening service of North Webster Church of God. Kiwanis club to celebrate sth anniversary Chuck Kunkel gave the invocation to open the February 11 meeting of Lakeland Kiwanis dub. Herbert George announced "plans for the Kiwanis sponsored hobby show are now complete Phil Mock reported that “big brothers” are being sought for boys in the Lakeland area. Pat McCarty was in charge of the program. He called on various members who [resented three minute thumbnail autobiographies. Members participating were Bob Morgan, Duane Leedy, Ted Koisky, Theo Thomas, John Clear, Ron Owens, ■Dm Moser and Jesse Huntzinger. It was announced that the ladies night dinner meeting will be held April 22. The dinner meeting is in celebration of the fifth anniversary' of Lakeland Kiwanis dub. Barbee Ladies Christian service meets Feb. 14 Barbee Ladies Christian service met February 14 at the Barbee Community church building. Mrs. Osha Bragg led in discussing the lesson “Christian obedience.” Members reported on visits to shut ins and nursing home patients. Gifts of pillows and lap robes, distributed during the visits, were discussed and plans made for more such sewing projects. It was announced that articles for sunshine boxes are again being sought. When the sunshine boxes are filled they will be given, as gifts, to shut ins and nursing home patients as part of a regular “cheer” program. A sack lunch was served at noon. Mrs. Harold Anderson is hostess for the Lydia Circle Mrs. Harold Anderson and Mrs. Ralph Davison were hostess for the February 12 meeting of Lydia Circle of North Webster United Methodist church. The ladies met in the fellowship room at the church. Mrs. A. C. Underwood was in charge of the program The study lesson was entitled “Christians who differ.” A patriotic theme highlighted the meeting. Lincoln books and pictures were on display. Devotions entitled “Wine of Life” were given by Mrs. Katherine Coy. Mrs. Hayes Hidy was a guest. 'People in our Lives' is Mary Circle program Mrs. Jim Kline gave a program entitled “People in our lives” during the February 14 meeting of Mary Circle of North Webster United Methodist church. Kiddy Valentine favors were given to each one present The next meeting will be a Saint Patrick’s party featuring a paper bag auction. -NW— Arrest man for drawing, aiming weapon Milford town marshal Don Drake arrested Thomas Ralph Crabtree, 32, a resident of the Meadow View addition on Saturday night after town officers were called to the addition, northwest of Milford. Crabtree was charged with drawing and aiming a dangerous weapon. He appeared before Warsaw city court judge Robert Burner and was fined $106.84 with costs of SB4 and ordered to spend 10 days in the county jail on consecutive week ends.
