School officials decided to keep the schools closed the remainder of the week because of the flu which hit many homes. Indiana state police traffic, crime summary Indiana State Police at Ligonier post have announced the following end of the month report for the month of January on their activities in Kosciusko county: Hours worked — 966 Miles patrolled - 17,345 Accidents investigated — 13 Arrests effected — 74 Warnings issued: 113 Motorists assisted — 28 Lieutenant Edward C. Anweiler, district commander, reports that five troopers assigned to the county were responsible for the above work. The Ligonier district comprises the seven northeastern counties of the state and officers conducted 81 criminal investigations which resulted in the arrests of 36 persons Beef cattle program set for Feb.l4 By DONALD E. FRANTZ Extension Coordinator A beef cattle production day program will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, starting at 10 am., at the Atwood community building The program will emphasize beef cow and calf production and will study its potential for Kosciusko county and northern Indiana, according to Don Frantz, extension agent. Lakehind Kiwanis plans first annual hobby show
President Robert L. Day has announced that the Lakeland Kiwanis club will sponsor its first annual hobby show on Thursday and Friday, April 4 and 5, in the commons of Wawasee high school. Showing of exhibits will be open to the public each day from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. No admission fee is to be charged. Working with president Day on preparations for this community event are Herbert George and judge Arthur A. Osburn, cochairmen of the hobby show committee, and Lakeland Kiwanis club major emphasis chairman Sherman E. Bryant. Other members of the hobby show committee are George Davis. Dave Everts. Phil Mock, Hazen Sparks. Dick Shipley and Rev. John Weeks. Exhibitors of hobbies may be junior high school or elementary students, senior high school students, adults, and retired adult citizens. Participants may enter either of two classes, collectors items or craft creations Each participant assumes responsibility for the safety of his exhibits, although two Kiwanians will serve as watchmen of the premises during all non show hours Space for showing of exhibits will be provided. No member of Lakeland Kiwanis club or of his immediate family is eligible to receive any prize. A special panel of judges will be named, including nonmembers of Lakeland Kiwanis dub. Milford police report given for January Milford town marshal Don Drake has given the following report for the month of January: Calls - 61 Arrests — 16 Dog calls — 9 Messages delivered —7 Burglary —1 Thefts — 2 There were no accidents investigated during the month. The police car was driven 1.697 miles. Slick road causes Saturday accident A single vehicle accident two miles south of Milford on SR 15 Saturday resulted in S9OO damage. The car was operated by Daniel R. Hollinger, 49. r 2 Syracuse. County police Sgt. Ron Robinson reported the auto hit a strip of ice and slid off the road and into a fence. No injuries were reported.
Craig Tucker in Farm House fraternity Craig Tucker has just recently been activated into the Purdue chapter of Farm House fraternity. Craig is a freshman in preveterinary science and medicine. The Purdue chapter of Farm House fraternity was founded as the nation’s 12th chapter in 1952 on the Purdue university campus. Farm House is a social fraternity that excells in high scholarship.
