Paula Steger and Kip Tom are married at Nappanee February 2
The marriage of Miss Paula Steger and Kip Tom took place at 7:90 o'dock on the evening of February 2 in the Living Gospel church at Nappanee. The bride is the daughter of Mr. Mid Mrs. James Steger of r S Warsaw and the bridegroom is the son of Mr . and Mrs. Everett Tom, Jr., of r 2 Leesburg. The double ring ceremony was performed by Otto Beer, Jr., in the presence of 250 persons. Pink and white were the colors chosen by the bride. Sweetheart roses and baby’s breath were found in the altar bouquets and the bouquets of the bridal party. The church was illuminated by candlelight arches in the windows and altar and flanking the and Phil Bender served - as musicians for the sendee. Their selections included “The Wedding Song,” “One Hand, One Heart,” and “The Lord's Prayer.” Given in .marriage by her father, the bride chose a ‘Total Look” gown of polyester, Miramist and Venice lace. The empire waist gown featured a bodice of Venice lace and Camelot sleeves also accented with Venice lace. A two-tiered mantilla of English illusion was enhanced with scalloped Venice lace. She carried a colonial bouquet of baby's breath and sweettieart roses with an ivy cascade. Mrs. Michael Vance of r 6 Warsaw served as matron of honor. She wore a formal length peasant style gown with riawtirired inset in the bodice, verigated flowers in the trim The gown was in medium pink doubleknit with long sleeves which were cuffed. There was a ruffle at the bottom of the dress Her peasant style cap was of matrhing fabric. She carried a hurricane bouquet of dried flowers in shades of pink with a candle. Laurel Long of Millersburg and Melinda Tom of r 2 Leesburg were bridesmaids. They wore gowns styled like the matron of honors in lighter shades of pink. Jade Beer of r 1 New f*aris served as flower girl and ringbearer Her dress was styled as the others except hers featured short sleeves. She carried a basket of dried flowers and the rings on a satin cushion Rick McGowen of r 1 New Paris served as best man. Ushers were Mike Vance of r « Warsaw, Steve Sommers of r i New Paris and Larry and Jay Steger, both of r 6 Warsaw. Her husband is a grain and livestock farmer. He graduated from Wawaaee high school and plans to attend Purdue agriculture’s short course in 1974. Auxiliary holds stated meeting Wawasee Unit 223, American Legion auxiliary at Syracuse met in a stated meeting on Tuesday. Jan. 22, at the legion home Due to inclement weather conditions, only nine members , were in attendance. Following regular business, plans were made for the legion birthday party in March and the girl’s state event in June. Oscar Graffs celebrate their 57th anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Graff of near Milford recently celebrated their 57th anniversary at a family dinner held at a Wakarusa restaurant. The tables were decorated in pink and white. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Levy of Warsaw, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kaiser of Mifford, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Sauder and family of Elkloart, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kaiser and family of Milford, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hueni and family of Mishawaka, Mr. and Mrs. Steven Kaiser of Milford, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Coy and family of New Paris. After dinner the 26 family members gathered at the Sauder home in Elkhart for cake and punch. Carefree Moms hold meeting The Carefree Mothers club of the Lakeland area met recently in the home of Mrs. William Bess far their January meeting. The business meeting was opened by Mrs. Paul Wilkinson, president. Mrs. Max Evans gave the secretary and treasurer’s reports. A discussion was held concerning the Christmas project the dub had in 1973. Plans were also made for future meetings, the chib’s annual auction and numerous other projects. Later in the evening everyone enjoyed a salad bar. Mrs. Donald Rice of Milford was a guest of the dub. Wawasee ranks high at district contest
Members of the Wawasee high school concert and cadet bands received 53 first place gold medals and 16 second place silver medals at the district contest at Culver high school last Saturday. Everyone who entered received a medal. Six ensembles received a first rating in group one and will represent Wawasee in the state contest at Butler university in Indianapolis on February 16. The group one winners are: saxophone trio, Mike Lantz, Connie Hoopingarner and Debbie Claytan; saxophone quartet, Connie Hoopingarner, Mike Lantz, Debbie Clayton and Debbie Eckert; flute trio, Becky Replogle, Kim Augsburger and Mike Silveus Also, brass sextet. Community Hands holds election By CONNIE HOOPINGARNER The Community Hands 4-H dub met at the school for their last meeting to elect officers. The meeting was called to order by Dennis Darr. The American pledge was led by Connie Hoopingarner and the 4-H pledge by Kevin Cloy. The following officers were then elected: President — Dennis Darr Vice president — Connie Hoopingarner Secretary — Denise Darr Treasurer — Kevin Coy Reporter — Leisa Napier Health and safety — Brian Roberts Song leaders — Robyn Watkins and Roberta Busch Recreation leaders — Steve Hoopingarner and Rebecca Busch The new officers were then installed for. the 1974 year. A presentation of the program was given by Dennis Darr. Project books were handed out. The new officers attended an officer training school at the Syracuse junior high school on January 31.
