The Syracuse Yellow Jackets seventh grade basketball team edged Milford 34-28 tn the finals to win a four-way basketball tourney last Saturday Playing oq their home floor the Jackets haa slipped by North Webster 40-39 in the morning Dave Stoffel again led Syracuse by totaling 39 points in the two games and getting half his teams rebounds Stoffel has averaged 21 points a game in his last four games and is averaging 16 points a game for the season Syracuse fought their way into

finals over a favored North Webster After jumping to a 25 to 12 half time lead Syracuse fell behind by three with less than a minute to go. Stoffel then scored twice for the win. Ray Gerber added 10. Dave Jones six and Kevin Smallwood five for Syracuse Mark Lantz led North Webster with 20 points. Milford scored the biggest upset of the tourney by rolling over a once beaten Central Noble team 40-31. Todd Grove scored 25 points and finished the day with 42 to lead all scorers Milford fell

Wawasee scored eight points in the first quarter while East Noble scored two. In the second quarter the Warriors hit for 13 points while East Noble scored six In the third quarter the Warriors hit 14 while East Noble hit 10 and in the final stanza the Warriors scored one extra point for 11 to 10 for East Noble., Box scores for the Warriors follow: Cripe 723. The A team now has a 9-6 record while the B team has a 101 record, JV cages Wildcats By SANDY GERENCSER The junior varsity basketball team defeated the Whitko Wildcats last Friday at Whitko. 49-36. The win makes their record 9-6 for the season Jerry Lambert's Warriors took a commanding lead in the first quarter, 14-5. They held their nine point edge at the half. 25-16. The Warriors continued to build upon their lead in the second half; they led 37-25 at the end of the third stanza. The fourth quarter found Wawasee caging the Wildpats. 4936 ’ There were three Warriors in double figures. Larry Allen netted 12 points to lead Wawasee's attack. Dave Wollman and Del Acton each tallied 10 points. Chad Singrey and Steve Troup scored seven and four points respectively. Gary Dean. Ralph Reiff and Paul Miller each added two. The Warriors have a full schedule this week end. They host Rochester on February 8. and they journey to West Noble on February 9. Both games will start at 6:45. The B-team fell in a very close game, 14-13; it was their first loss The varsity team held a. commanding lead throughout the game. The girls lead 13-4 at the end of the first period and topped the Falcons 23-6 at the half. The third quarter found them out in front 31-15; they plucked the Falcons in the final period, 39-25. Barb Brouwer and Colleen Beer were top scorers for Wawasee with 16 and 11 points respectively. Tammy Schumn swept the boards with 11 rebounds. The junior varsity team lost a really close game. They led at the end of the first quarter, 3-2, and at the half. 9-8. The Falcons came around in the third period to tie the score, 11-11. Fairfield won the game 14-13. Toni Gronendyke and Bensi Hall each scored four points for the B-team.
