Wawasee got a three point play and another quick basket to lead 23-14. The remainder of the period found both teams hitting the goal. The Warriors left the court leading, 32-24 The young second half saw lopsided scoring with Wawasee firing in 10 points before Whitko was even able to score. The Warriors built their biggest lead of the evening when they led by 20' points. The Wildcats started to prowl late in the period to cut the lead to fifteen. 53-38. The Warriors’ lead started to slip in ttie final quarter. The Wildcats clawed their way to within seven points about midway through the period. Wawasee rallied and got its lead back up to 10. With about three minutes left in the game Jim Stout had to leave action due to the fact that he sprained his ankle. They were defeated by host River Valley in Friday night action at Three Rivers, Mich. At the end of the first quarter, River Valley had edged Prep Lakers 14-11 and doubled their score in the second quarter for a 10 pomt lead, 28-18. Futal scoring saw R^wr Valley with 63 to 42 for the Lakers. \ / Leon Streeter was leading scorer for Prep with 16 points followed by Aaron Scott with nine. The opponent’s leading scorer. Johnson, netted 20 points, followed by Waaso and Caffman with 10 points each. Horae Game In Saturday night action against the Gary Horsemen, hosted at Prep, the Lakers led at half-time with a one-point lead. 24-23. During the second half. Garymade a strong come back for a final 67-12 score giving Gary a big win. For the Lakers, John Landry tallied 10 points for top point man followed by Brian Welch with nine points. By SANDY GERENCSER Wawasee defeated Whitko last Thursday 41-16. The wrestlers got three pins, three decisions, two ties and a forfeit. Whitko received two decisions, two ties and a forfeit. Warriors picking up pins for Wawasee were Steve Hoopingarner in the 100 pound y class, Alex Labra in the 122, and Mike W oil man in the 188. Warriorettes split games with Eagles

Swimmers nip Bellmont 85*83

By SANDY GERENCSER The Wawasee swim team, coached by Tom Rankin, beat Bellmont last Thursday. 85-83. The Warriors captured eight events for their win. The 200 medley relay team placed first with a time of 1:58.5. The team was made up of Kevin Fry. Mark Kobie. Clem Lisor and Brian Simmons. The 400 freestyle team took first with 4:08.6. The team consisted of Denny Solomon, Dan Dieterly, Gary Webb and Tim Campbell. Brian Simmons won the 50 and 100 freestyle with :25.2 and :55.9, respectively; he is only .3 seconds off the record in the 100 freestyle. Dan Dieterly came from behind to win the 500 freestyle with 6:13.3. Clem Lisor took the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.5. Tankmen sink to Howe 44-38 By SANDY GERENCSER Coach Tom Rankin's swim team lost a close meet to Howe Military last Saturday, 44-38. The Warriors got four first places. Tim Campbell took two firsts. He won the 200 individual medleyin 1:55 6 and the 100 backstroke in 1:09.3. Clem Lisor came in first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.0. The 50 freestyle was won by Brian Simmons as he swam it in :31.5. The loss makes their season record 6-5.

By SANDY GERENCSER The young Warrior wrestling team, coached by Terry Frank, placed third in the NLC tourney at North Wood on s Saturday; they scored 77 points. Warsaw won the tourney with 104 points and North Wood captured second with 86. The rest erf the schools scored as follows: Manchester 594. Plymouth 47, Bremen 25. Rochester 22. and Concord 7. Wawasee had three champions. Dave Doll won the 108 pound class after he decisioned his three opponents. He beat McClure (R) 11-0, Newcomer (NW) 5-1 and Rankin (Warsaw) 6-5. Alex Labra captured the 122 pound class by pinning Truex (C) in 1:19; decisioning Aughenbaugh (M) 4-0 and Hunt (R) 4-3. Joe Melendez was victorious in the 140 pound class as he won by forfeit; decisioned King (R) 6-1 and McCleary (Warsaw) 7-4.

Two Warriors earned second place honors. Vic Labra took second in the 115 pound class. He decisioned Green (R) 12-0 and Hueni (B) 7-0, but was decisioned by, Strang (NW) 5-4. The 148 pound class was won by Jack Schopf. He pinned Hienk (B) in 5:41; decisioned Mishler (NW) 42, but was pinned by Pinnick (Warsaw). Doug Brown placed third in the 158 pound class. Doug pinned Lineberry (B) in 1:58; was decisioned by Shively (Warsaw) 6-0 and decisioned Roose (NW) 40. Fourth place winners for Wawasee were Jesse Stevens in 135. Gary Francis in the 180, Mike Wollman in the 188 and Mitch Ousley in the heavyweight class. The Warriors will participate in sectional tournament wrestling at Manchester on
