Two deer hit last Wednesday Approximately S3OO in damage was estimated in an accident last Wednesday night when a deer crossed Indiana 13 about one-half mile north of North Webster and was killed when it was struck by a northbound car driven by Gary Hill. 20, of r 1 North Webster. Another deer ran into the side of a car driven by Don Troyer, 36, r 1 Syracuse, on county road 33 north of Syracuse Wednesday night, then ran from the scene. Damage to Troyer’s car was set at $125. Driver arrested following accident A Syracuse driver was jailed Wednesday after a 2:30 a.m. accident on the Beer Rd., onehalf miles east of Milford. Driver of the auto involved was Stanley Schopf. 44. The accident was investigated by county police patrolman Marlin Rose who arrested Schopf for driving under the influence of intoxicating beverages and public intoxication. Rose reported that Schopf was eastbound on the Beer Rd. when the car went out of control and struck a tree. Damage was listed at SI,OOO to the auto and Schopf was later released after paying justice of the peace court fines. SPACE SHUTTLE On Jan. 5,1972, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration was ordered to begin work on a space shuttle.

FEB. 11.1960 A small fire in the garage at Richard Smith’s Friday was extinguished by William Burgett and Oliver Replogle shortly before the fire department arrived. , Considerable public rsponse to the ballot on whether or not to have a curfew for Milford was reported this week. Last Friday 67 third grade pupils enjoyed the Shrine-Polack Brothers circus at the Fort Wayne War Memorial Coliseum as the guests of the Kosciusko County Shrine club The Soc Hop given in the Milford community building last Saturday evening cleared $57.56 for the little league ball diamond. The 1960 membership drive for the Milford Chamber of Commerce is now underway. Virgil Wuthrich, son of Mr. and Mrs. W’alter Wuthrich, has passed his CPA exam. 24 YEARS AGO. FEB. 9.1950 Mr. and Mrs. Dale Mikel became the parents of a son. Randall Everett, born on February 1. Miss Dorothea Groves. A new 200 bed veterans' administration hospital at Fort Wayne will be dedicated May 15. Wilbur Baumgartner has begun to tear down the old ice house located at Milford Lake. 30 YEARS AGO. Farmers in this vicinity were glad to see the snow fall Friday morning for the recent freezing and thawing weather has damaged their crops.
