Schilling of r 9 Huntington. An area resident, Dwight Kimbble, told police he had stopped ata Pierceton restaurant and was returning home when he noticed a car following him. Kimbble said he pulled into his drive and one of the occupants of the other car told him to watch his speed or he would be arrested for speeding. He watched the car as it continued down the road, then backed up. Kimbble said someone shouted from the car, “Come out or I will blow you out.” At the same time he heard
an explosion and saw a flash. He said he grabbed his .12 gauge shotgun and fired at the car. Hearing someone cry out, he said he knew he had hit one of the occupants. Schilling drove to North Webster for help. Both Byrnes and Schilling told officers they were driving around in their auto when it was hit with the shotgun blasts. Investigating officers revealed the car had been hit with three blasts from such a gun. Schilling suffered pellet wounds in his left arm and forearm. He was treated and released. Byrnes was treated at the Murphy Medical Center then transferred to Parkview hospital in Fort Wayne for surgery. Both have recovered. States evidence was presented ip the case by prosecuting attorney R. Steven Hearn last Wednesday and Thursday. No one ever finds life worth living. One always has to make it worth living.
