United Methodist Women hold yule party Dec. 13
Members of the United Methodist Women of the Milford UM church met in the Fellowship room of the church on Thursday evening, Dec. 13, to enjoy an evening of carol singing, a program of the Christmas story, portrayed in narration, scripture and poetry, and lots of warm fellowship and merriment. The committee for the evening was composed of Mrs. Richard Felkner and Mrs. Robert Ruch who served refreshments from a beautifully decorated buffet table, and Mrs. Vern Stutzman, Mrs. Ralph Karstedt, and Mrs. Robert Brown who presented the program. Members of the Wednesday Afternoon club at Syracuse met last week at the home of Mrs. Ralph Clingaman for a meeting and Christmas party. Libbie wished every one present a “Merry Christmas” and thanked everyone who remembered her with a greeting card. At the close of the evening Mrs. Keith Lindzy presented Mrs. Vern Stutzman, the president, with a gift from the ladies in honor of the Stutzmans’ 25th wedding anniversary which was celebrated at an open house on December 16. Mrs. Donna Tyler was a guest for the evening. The next meeting will be held on January 10 with the place to be announced at a later date.

Mrs. Elmer Sorensen was chairman of the event. Mrs. Leemon .hostess to Past Presidents The Past Presidents Parley of Legion Auxiliary Unit 226, Milford, met with Mrs. Martha Leemon Wednesday evening. Fifteen members were present to enjoy her new home in Milford and the delicious salad bar during refreshment time. Mrs. Leemon has returned to Milford after living in Goshen for a number of years. Business Meeting During the business session Mrs. Robert Rassi read the minutes of the previous meeting in October. Reports on service men who are patients at the Indiana Soldiers Home were given and motion made and passed for a collection be taken to be sent to the home. The patients may select gifts from these gifts to send to their loved ones at home. Two veterans from Milford are receiving treatment at the home at the present time. December 20th is the date set to deliver fruit plates and baskets to local shut-ins and needy families. Mrs. Herbert Felkner will entertain the Parley members at the next meeting to be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Busy Bees have yule dinner party The Busy Bee club of Milford had its Christmas dinner party at the home of Mrs. Delbert Moneyheffer last Wednesday. A ham smorgasbord was enjoyed. During the social hour the ladies enjoyed singing Christmas carols with Mrs. Don Ahrns at the piano. The committee, Mrs. Moneyheffer, Mrs. Ralph Miller and Mrs. Erma Chambers, read several Christmas recitations. A Christmas exchange was enjoyed. The ladies found their new secret sisters’ names in small silver bells prepared by president Mrs. Doral McFarren. Mrs. Caroline Butrick gave several comments since she is in the process of moving to Elkhart. There was an election of officers held with the following results: President — Mrs. Herman Miller Vice president — Mrs. Delbert Moneyheffer Secretary-treasurer — Mrs. Don Ahms Goodwill club holds annual Christmas party Seventeen members of the Goodwill Extension Homemakers club at Syracuse met last Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Fred Butt for their annual Christmas party. Mrs. Elmo Shock gave grace for the bountiful pot luck dinner. Following dinner, president Mrs. Everett Darr, presided for a brief business meeting at which time members were reminded dues were due at this time. Mrs. Robert Busch gave meditations reading the Christmas story from the Bible and a Christmas poem written by her mother. During the afternoon, a number of Christmas plates were prepared and delivered to shut-ins of the area. Prior to adjournment with the club prayer song, members held a gift exchange. TO TEXAS AND MEXICO — Pearl Avalos, who has been working in Milford for the past five years, will be leaving December 19 for Texas and Mexico on missionary work. She will be in Weslaco, Texas, before going to Mexico to teach and minister to the Spanish people. December 8 wedding unites Mindy Rogers, Michael Byrd
Miss Mindy Jeanne Rogers, daughter of Mrs. Jean W. Rogers of r 4 Syracuse, became the bride of Michael E. Byrd, in a lovely 2:30 o’clock service on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 8, in Calvary United Methodist church south of Syracuse. Rev. Ross D. Cook, pastor of the church, officiated for the double ring ceremony in the presence of 75 guests. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie 0. Byrd of 713 South 4th street, Syracuse. Christmas greenery, lighted candelabrums and a floral arrangement bedecked lhe wedding setting. Mrs. Robert Jones provided appropriate organ selections. J The Bride Given in marriage by her cousin, Richard O. Kidder of Elkhart, the bride appeared in a “Total Look” gown of white polyester organza over taffeta featuring rows of venice lace flowers and appliques on the gown front and back presenting an apron effect. Venice lace flowers also accented the empire waist, square neckline and bishop sleeves of the gown. One single row of Venice lace enhanced the gown bottom. Her two-tiered mantilla of English illusion was highlighted by Venice lace edging. She carried an arrangement of red roses, daisies and baby’s breath caught to a white satin ribbon. Attendants Miss Susan Snowberger of r 1 Ligonier served as maid of honor in a gown of medium blue polyester with antique lacing accents. Her flowers were identical to the bride only in a smaller arrangement. The bridegroom’s best man was Michael Smith of Syracuse. Ushers were Arnold Johnson of Syracuse and Dale Mabie New Paris. A reception immediately followed in the church parlor with ladies of the church in charge. Miss Robin Dust of Syracuse {resided at the punch bowl and Miss Jan Davis Syracuse was at the guest book. Following a brief wedding trip, the couple is residing at 101 Vi E.

Her seven sons and two daughters and families and guests were in attendance with 57 participating in the carry-in dinner. Senior Mothers hold salad bar party Sixteen members of the Senior Mothers club at Syracuse held a salad bar Christmas party Monday night at the home of Mrs. John Walker. Co-hostesses for the evening were Mrs. H. A. Burson and Mrs. Jan Baumgartner. Christmas tree ornaments, handmade by Mrs. Walker, were presented each member. Gifts were exchanged and the evening spent socially. Mrs. Leonard Ramhart received a game prize. The next meeting will be January 14 at the home of Mrs. Barnhart. Kappa Omicron's hold meeting The Kappa Omicron chapter of Beta Sigma Phi at Syracuse met Thursday night in the home of Mrs. David Johnson. Plans were made for the chapter to go Christmas caroling to shut-ins and take baskets filled with goodies to those less fortunate. Mrs. Jerry Eagon presented the evening program on dress is an art. Mrs. John Rose, Mrs. John Roth and Mrs. Cheryl Penn will be in charge. Santa Claus will make a call at the library on Saturday, Dec. 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. with a treat for the children.
