Wickersham 214-516 Syracuse outshoots South Whitley The Syracuse Yellow Jackets defeated South Whitley last Thursday in seventh and eighth grade basketball games. Syracuse started quickly in the eighth grade game and led a 33-6 lead at halftime. All Syracuse players sc (red as the final score mounted to 58-34. This brings the Syracuse teams record to four wins and two losses. The Jacket seventh graders also shot quickly in the first half to move to a 26-8 halftime lead. Ten players scored for Syracuse with Dave Stoffel leading with 14 points and nine rebounds. David Jones and Keith Smallwood added 10 points apiece and the final score was 47-23. Scoring for Syracuse: Eighth Grade — Smith 10, Stan Kroh 6, Willits 7, Phillabaum 4, Patton 4, Knudsen 6, McKibben 8, Singrey 1, White 6, Tom Kroh 2, Owens 2, Hoover 2 Seventh Grade — Stoffel 14, D. Jones 10, Johnson 2, Smallwood 10, Long 1, Cripe 1, Maggart 3, Smith 2, Becker 1, Dunithan 1, Aaron 2 Lakeland area hit with snow storm today A pre-Christmas snow storm hit the Lakeland area last night and the snow continues today as we go to press blanketing the area with some three inches. An additional three inches is expected before the snow fall stops. Unless an unexpected warm-up hits the area a white Christmas is assured. Syracuse defeats West Noble five The Syracuse Yellow Jacket eighth grade baskethall team doubled the score on West Noble in the first half and held on to the lead to win, 49-33, last Tuesday. Ken Patton controlled the backboards with 13 rebounds to keep West Noble behind. Rick McKibben hit on seven of nine shots in the second and third quarters to give Syracuse a 28 to 14 lead. Bryan Smith finished as Syracuse’s top scorer with 15

THEATRE PARTY — The annual free show day was held Saturday at the Pickwick Theatre in Syracuse with 820 attending the two shows, one in the forenoon and one in the afternoon. Treats were given to each in attendance. In addition to the shows, Kelly the Clown performed for the amusement of the young and the old, and Santa was on hand to pass out the treats.
