ONE YEAR AGO, DEC. 20,1972 Over 30 interested persons attended the Tuesday night meeting of the Syracuse town board of trustees, the biggest share being members of the newly formed snowmobile club of the area under president Larry Clodfelter, wishing to talk on possible snow routes in the town. Joe Hughes is the new fire chief for next year with Larry Weaver as first assistant; William Pipp, second; James McClintic, captain; Ed Leamon, lieutenant; and Mike Price, secretarytreasurer. Robert Penick is outgoing chief. Grace Lutheran church at Syracuse was the setting for the November 25 wedding uniting in marriage Miss Diane Lee VanLue of Syracuse and Stephen E. Elliott, also of Syracuse. 5 YEARS AGO, DEC. 18, 1968 Mr. and Mrs. James Gilbert quietly observed their 55th wedding anniversary last Friday in their home at 113 West Carroll street. Mr. and Mrs. Foo Wong and son, Corky, left last week end for Hong Kong to visit the former’s mother whom he has not seen in 35 years, and will visit Mrs. Wong’s parents at Seattle, Wash., en route home. Rev. and Mrs. Victor Yeager will be honored at an open house Sunday in the Mount Tabor Church of God fellowship hall on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary. Dietrick took place at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, Dec. 15.

Irvin Coy, living on a farm on the Noble-Kosciusko county line west of Cromwell, had the misfortune of losing part of a hand Wednesday when his glove caught on the rolls and drew his hand into the corn shredder. Everybody in Syracuse and vicinity is cordially invited to attend a Christmas party on the public square around the Christmas tree Monday evening, Dec. 24, at 6:30 o’clock. Mrs. J. H. Bowser left Saturday for Cleveland, Ohio to visit indefinitely in the home of a son, Harold, then will go on to Chicago to visit another son, Howard, before returning home. A * . T Afli AT KEESLER — Airman Timothy W. Sands, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul V. Sands of r 2 Milford, has been assigned to Keesler AFB, Miss., after completing air force basic training. During his six weeks at the air training command's Lackland AFB, Tex., he studied the air force mission, organization and customs and received special instruction in human relations. The airman has been assigned to the technical training center at Keesler for specialized training in communications-electronics systems. Airman Sands is a 1973 graduate of Wawasee high school. Evening extension classes offered TERRE HAUTE — Indiana State university will conduct an evening extension class next semester at Warsaw high school for interested area residents. The course offering is Principles and Techniques of Supervising Student Teachers, a secondary education graduate course which offers three hours of credit. Class will meet each Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. starting January 15. Instructor will be Dr. John Martin. Warsaw is one of 19 Hoosier communities in which ISU is offering a total of 95 extension classes in the spring. Information about other classes may be obtained by writing the division of continuing education and extended services, Indiana State university, Terre Haute. TODDS AT IU Joe and Barbara Todd of Todd Realty, Lake Wawasee and Syracuse, recently attended the update conference at Indiana university in Bloomington. The conference was for graduates of the Indiana Realtors Institute. Joe and Barbara graduated in 1972 and are among 150 graduates of the institute. The purpose of the conference was to inform realtors of present day happenings in various market areas so that they may better serve the public.
