Barbee Ladies have Christmas party Dec. 13
Barbee Ladies Christian Service held its Christmas party December 13 at the church. The meeting opened with group singing of Christmas carols. Mrs. Lucille Hobel played the piano.

The group voted to send a donation to church sponsored missionaries now serving in the mission field in Jamaica. A carry-in dinner was served at noon with the ladies’ husbands as invited guests. A Christmas gift exchange was held. New officers for the coming year were elected. They are: Osha Bragg — president Mrs. Don Watson — vice president Mrs. Steve Kiser — secretary Mrs. Frank Golden *— treasurer The afternoon was spent cleaning the church building. Efficient Homemaker: meet in Helvey home Mrs. Jerry Helvey, r 1 Leesburg, was hostess for Efficient Homemakers home extension club Christmas party. Mrs. Hannah Payne was cohostess for the December 13 event. Mrs. Paul Kline and Mrs. Joe Shock were in charge of the program. Mrs. Charles Long gave a history of Christmas. Mrs. Kip Sullivan presented the Citizenship report. Christmas gifts were exchanged and secret pals revealed. Mrs. Jim Payne and Mrs. Richard Noffke, Wannamaker, were guests.

Mrs. Joe Barrett, chairman of Tippecanoe township CROP program reports that a total of $230.75 has been donated in Tippecanoe township. Kiwanis club hears about 4-H confab George Davis gave the invocation to open the December 10 meeting of Lakeland Kiwanis club. Maurie Crow was welcomed back from a leave of absence. Dan Watson reported on the ladies night program held recently at Wawasee high school. Don Martin announced that a group of the Lakeland Kiwanis will be attending a meeting at Columbia City. Christmas caroling for club members and their families has been cancelled due to a conflict of dates. Mrs. Betty Grider was guest speaker. She was introduced by Pat McCarty. Mrs. Grider told of her trip to the 4-H convention in Washington, D.C. She thanked the Lakeland club for helping with lj|r expenses. At the close of the program Mrs. Grider was presented with a certificate of appreciation. Guests present were Dave Clapp, Dan Spitler, Stuart Howley and Garrett Epply, all from North Manchester. Christmas program Sunday The Barbee Community church Christmas program will be held December 23 at 7 p.m. Special music is being planned by the choir. A play will be presented and poems will be recited by younger members of the congregation. Christmas program presented recently Members of the North Webster Church of the Brethren recently presented a Christmas program for patients at a local nursing home. The program was planned by Mrs. Paul Shrider. Children from the church sang songs and distributed gifts, they had made, to the patients. Group singing was enjoyed. Special music was provided by Mrs. Florence Shock, Mrs. Rhoda Mock, Mrs. Phil Mock and Mrs. Steven Richcreek. Mrs. Merlin Cassell gave two Christmas readings Mr. and Mrs. Miller entertain at party Mr. and Mrs. Harry Miller were hosts at a recent party of the Home Builders class of North Webster Church of the Brethren. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kiser were in charge of the entertainment. Rev. Paul Shrider led the devotions. ATTEND FUNERAL OF RELATIVE Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barrett and sons Allen and Kerry, r 1 Warsaw, attended the funeral of James Gillen, on December 6, at Boswell. Mr. Gillen is Joe Barrett’s brother-in-law.

The money donated to CROP goes to pay for seed, tools, food, etc. to help people in underdeveloped countries around the world. Tippecanoe club has z holiday party A Christmas gift exchange and salad bar luncheon highlighted the December 12 Christmas party of Tippecanoe Township home extension club. Mrs. Rex Lawson was hostess. She was assisted by Mrs. Marvin Lawson. Mrs. Joe Heffrom Huntington, was a guest. Mrs. Ray Biltz, president was presented with a Christmas gift from the club. Mrs. Margaret Welker received a birthday gift from her secret pal. Further plans were discussed for a Valentine party to be held for patients at a local nursing home. The January meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. T. A. Willman, r 1 Leesburg. Hoss Hills Bowmen hold animal shoot Hoss Hills Bowmen recently held an animal round archery shoot at the club house. ROLLER SKATING PARTY IS HELD Mrs. Dennis Richcreek and Mrs. Joe Shock were in charge of the roller skating party held recently at Winona Lake by North Webster Church of the Brethren. Following the skating party refreshments were served at the church. Willing Workers go caroling 1116 Willing Workers class and the young married couples from North Webster Church of the Brethren are going Christmas caroling December 21. They plan to carol for shut-ins. ALLEN BARRETT IN ENGLAND Allen Barrett and Miss Kristen Burrows left by plane, December 7, to vist Miss Burrows parents who live in London England. Both young people are students at Manchester college. Allen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barrett, r 1 Warsaw. Charles Richards at Fort Sill, Okla. Staff Sgt. and Mrs. Charles D. Richards are now stationed at Fort Sill, Okla. Their new address is: 2416 North 6th St., Lawton, Okla. 73501. Sgt. Richards is the sot of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Richards, r 1 Leesburg. Columbia City. Prestog Gregory, r 1 Pierceton, has been transferred to Parkview hospital, Fort Wayne. Mrs. Mabie Penn has been released from the hospital and is now recuperating at home. Mrs. Phil Mock and Mrs. Harry Miller are in charge of the North Webster Church of the Brethren Christmas program to be held December 23. The Home Builders class of North Webster Church of the Brethren will host a New Year’s Eve party, Dec. 31, at the church. Broekers, 24. of Syracuse was treated at the office of a local physician Thursday afternoon following a two-car crash south of Syracuse on Indiana 13 near the curve at the
Sleepy Owl. His northbound auto was struck by a car driven by Wayne J. Mock, 17, also of Syracuse, who was southbound at the time.
